Upgrade Forms - Still the Real WTF?

  • ♿ (Parody)

TDWTF Forums are now powered by CS 2007.

  • Discourse touched me in a no-no place

And some UI elements have moved.

Emailed notification subjects have changed again.

Wonder if the $0 and $_POST (etc) bugs are still there. Guess I won't know unless someone quotes this message. If they can find the quote button that is.

Test for your benefit BJH. Note: I manually quoted.

    Heard of the $
(where it copies the body when sent as an email) bug, but what is the $0 bug?

The button is on the page after clicking reply, where you type you reply - it's under the message you're replying to, in the same grey panel the message is in.

Same thing (or at least similar - I used to need to go to the forum to read the message until I figured out WTF was happening.)

For what it's worth, I seem to have been emailed my original post, which never used to happen, and have yet to get the email for your post.

And no (yes?), the bug appears to have been fixed.

  • If find the thing overall has been tweaked and improved, but the flow needs to be reconsidered a little. Displaying the quote button to the Reply section was a bad move.

    Also,

    OMG I HAS FAN?!

    WHAT IS FAN PLZ.

    KTHXBYE

It's a little 1984, though, because in my Favourites, it says "users watching you [muahaha]", and in the main profile page it says "Fans".

  • Why is it that you can sort threads by "Total Ratings" (i.e. number of ratings) and not by "Average Rating"?

Why would the former ever be useful?

  • Reply to topic: yes.

Just mentioning one thing. What bloody use is the "last post" link?! I don't want to go to the last post made, I want to go to the first one I haven't read. As warts go this is #FF0000 red, shining and playing Wagner's "Ride of the Valkyries". If the designers of the system haven't understood this ultimately fundamental single fact about forums and user interfaces after so many iterations they arent't to be trusted with a rotting cheese shaving. And it takes stubborness way beyond the sane level to stick with the system.
