Seemingly Unrelated Topic 1: Software Architecture
-
What is the best software architecture? Disguss!
-
-
That looks more like hardware architecture.
-
That's fascinating, but that appears to be a hardware architecture. I assume the interface involves a magnetized inner hub surface read by something a lot like a drive head? or maybe wireless? or maybe concentric traces, which would work for about 2 minutes or so... bet the RAM stays cool tho. appears the wiring is incomplete, tho, I would expect custom cables from the connectors to the hub.
-
But what good is hardware without firmware and software drivers? You gotta have the whole kit-n-kaboodle else it's just a fancy desk toy!
-
Software has to live somewhere.
-
Agreed. I wouldn't mind seeing what happens if you whirl the RAM around like that. I expect bad things. Plus having to go back to adding in pairs... But, would like it to at least run, maybe not well.
-
That's how Digital Ocean cool their servers down with all of those instances of Discourse running.
-
It also keeps the RAM regularly flushed because centrifugal force flings the electrons out!
-
It would be interesting to see what sort of systems software changes, if any, would be needed to support a blade server consisting of a central hub rotating blades through a bath of chilled dielectric oil.

#1, switches are better than hubs. #2, I suppose it depends on the tensile strength of the network cabling used. #3, Markdown sucks.
-
You're right, except when the hub is a circular rotating part like at the center of a wheel, and switches suck at doing that. Even rotary switches, but not as bad...
switches are better than hubs

i like the bauhaus school myself

CENTRIFUGAL FORCE IS A CONSPIRACY!
It's only a conspiracy from within your frame of reference.
-
The only true frame of reference is the elephant the world is stood upon, of course.
Some say it's the turtles, but that's infinite regression, since they go all the way down...

That's silly. It's a turtle. Why would it need to stand on anything? It can swim.

Linux Hardware.
-
Putting instructions one after another in memory and letting the processor execute them. The only tried and true architecture.
-
Serious answer: the one that solves the problem at hand, given all relevant quality requirements.

Why does that guy have an orange, legless dog?
-
A dog that great, you don't eat all at once.
-
-
Also that's a pumpkin. I can't get it to look like a dog by looking at it any way I've tried yet.
-
I think it's a big rock. The dirt is orange too, so it works for me.

More importantly, why is the legless dog not blue?
-
Also attn @Lorne_Kates..
I have seen the dog! My eyes hurt now...

None of these. It's a cat-shaped bomb.

Btw, what was the topic again? How to protect our bikes from rain during rests of an excursion?
