Here there be Dragons

So, there I was watching the third season of Hannibal, when suddenly the irony of Richard Armitage playing the "Tooth Fairy" killer hit me like a brick. I mean, this guy, who once (or thrice) played a guy (Thorin) fighting a great red dragon (Smaug) and going insane over it, is now playing an insane guy who believes he is transforming into a great red dragon? Made me laugh out loud...
I wonder if anyone on the production crew of Hannibal noticed that.

I had similar thoughts. I can't believe that it wasn't a huge running joke during production.

Yeah I wonder if the guys who do nothing but work with this actor and script on a full-time basis, 40+ hours a week, never ever ever even slightly think about the script and/or actor's past roles. Perhaps they are memory-wiped every 4 hours.

It's not on TVTropes though...
