Team collaboration software something something recommendation
-
Hi guys,I basically want an online team collaboration thingy where my bosses and other people involved can see what I am working on at the moment.stuff in my to do list, stuff in progress, stuff completed and so on.kanban ish.there would be a total of two to three people looking at this excluding me. I was looking at trello but it requires each member to log in.I don't think my target audience would use this if they had to open a Web page and login and see stuff.I just want to do my kanban stuff, share a link and anybody who wants to see what I am working on would just click the link and be taken to the page where my progress will be listed. If any of this makes sense, recommendations are welcome.
EDIT: Not a paid software. Must be free
Thanks much

JIRA Agile works for me, since w'ere using JIRA as a bug tracker already.
-
Uh oh.Forgot to add,It needs to be free.It is just for me and a couple other people.jira seems to be ten dollars / month
-
Do you use Github? SockDrawer uses Waffle.io, it's quite handy:
https://waffle.io/sockdrawer/sockbot
They're doing a limited beta that integrates with Github Enterprise: https://takeout.waffle.io/
-
dunno if TFS Express has that feature?
-
We don't use github. Is it possible to create a dummy report add issues and then mark the progress against them? Seems like a bit of work though. OTOH the layout in the link you provided is exactly the same as what I wanted. Is there something more simpler?
-
We do use TFS but I don't even know where to start looking
-
TFS 2015 did get an entirely redesigned set of Agile boards, though I don't know if that's in 2013 or, god forbid, older versions...
-
You basically want a "Kanban board", if that helps you search. They all look more or less like that.
-
Wait a minute, what is the right technical term for what I am looking for?
-
Kanban board. Often used in Agile teams, so Agile product suites typically have them.
-
TFS is only free for up to 5 users, but maybe?
For kanban, you pretty much have to only use the user story board, but it works nicely.
-
Tfs wouldn't be feasible. Sombody has Tfs access.somebody does not.some might not even have any clue on what TFS is.Again, what I need is only useful if someone can just click on a link,be taken to a page where my progress is listed kanban style.Very very basic stuff.
-
https://trello.com/ I think they have a free option?
-
That doesn't follow. At most, they'd have to log in. You can link to kanban boards and burndown charts and whatever else. The web interface is really nice. I get that there may be other reasons that make it a bad fit, just not the ones you listed.
-
Trello is free. But if someone else wants to see my stuff, they have to have a username login and then see my stuff. The chances of my boss or manager logging in and then looking at my shit are very very slim. No logins.I click on a button that says share, get a link, send it off to the person in question, they click it,see shit.Am I asking too much or what I'm asking doesn't exist at all?!
-
But if someone else wants to see my stuff, they have to have a username login and then see my stuff.
No.
-
Are we still talking about TFS? I am confused now.
-
Yes?
Look, most of these tools do require logins, because typically teams aren't all that interested in having their processes be freely accessible by anyone ever. You won't get past that with TFS, at least in the free versions, because that normally involves a domain account setting. So it's probably not a good fit.

Nope. The link you posted says somebody must be a member of that board to see it.The only member in the board is me.There is no one else.I am not inviting anyone else and even if I do people CBA to do all that.so yeah.

Goddamn, no one can read today.
A link to a public bard or a card on a public board can be opened by anyone that has been given the link.

Read better:
A link to a public bard or a card on a public board can be opened by anyone that has been given the link.
So make your board public.
-
Alright will look into TFS then. Will take a tiny nudge though to convince people to login.
-
Shit.my bad.sorry.
-
My opinion on the subject, if you cannot get these fuckers to login to something, they are not going to click the link you send them either, so may as well try to piss up a rope.
-
Ah.Should have thought about it. The whole thread seems pointless now.
-
We in technology tend to think of all problems as being able to be solved with a proper application of said technology. Try to keep from doing that. Broaden your tool set. When your only tool is a hammer, all problems look like nails.
-
Visual Studio Online has a view similar to that, but I'm not sure if it required logins (it probably does.)
Frankly your login requirement is a bit absurd. 99.9% of businesses don't want any random Joe to see exactly what they're working on and when they expect to be done; ain't nobody asking for that feature.
-
The ones that cannot login include the boss's boss and someone from the testing team. They don't have TFS access.
-
So... give it to them?
Ask your boss's boss whether he wants the project's status freely available to any idiot over the open web. I wager he'll say no.
-
Not a paid software. Must be free
If you are working for a software company and you go to look for tools and this is on the list of requirements...time to look for a new job. If it is a nice to have, fine. But if it is required, polish the resume.
-
Omg this was the guy who asked me what I was upto and when asked if he checked the mail with the latest status updates told me he never checks most of his emails.
This one s not worth it.Guess just the immediate boss being able to see the statuses should do for now.
Wow fuck my life.goddamn.
-
I asked for Toad instead of sql developer which is impossible to work with and I work with the database 70 percent of my time.was told licenses were very expensive. No Toad for you.
Let alone someone being ready to pay for project management stuff.
-
That's fine - SQL Developer is miles better than Toad anyway.
-

He's not going to check this then either, so you needn't bother.

'd when I told him he would be trying to piss up a rope. ;)
