Killed by invalid index
-
DOTA 2. (i checked - the player's name was not litteraly "invalid index")
-
That happens sometimes if people disconnect from the server and haven't reconnected yet.
-
I think i was killed by a bot (he quit before the game started). So you are probably correct.
(yes yes limited heroes is trwtf)
-
Listen to this man, he has like 800 DOTA2 hours.
That means he's been insulted by an angry Russian dude about 54,000 times.
-
Limited heroes is great if you're new or your internet connection is shaky. I suggest you try the new Overthrow mode. It's a lot faster paced than normal Dota and since there can be up to 10 teams, any lack of skill gets lost in the chaos.
-
new Overthrow mode
That does look exciting.
The only reason for accepting limited heroes was unacceptable wait times if i didn't select it. I seem to need to build some dota pointz. LEVEL 3 REPRESENT
(i've played a bit of LOL and quite a bit of WC3 dota - but this was years ago)
-
Is this anything like that time I deleted a post in /t/1000?
-
Viper. Along with Sniper and Wraith King (back in my day, we called him Skeleton King!), absolute proof that Icefrog's idea of skillful gameplay consists of right clicking on things.
Inovoker is technical, but Icefrog typically doesn't seem to like designing technical characters.
-
The only thing having a higher level on your Dota 2 account does is unlock the ability to have a number that tells you how bad you are at the game permanently displayed to all your teammates.
Overthrow wait times are about 2 seconds from clicking the "I want to play Overthrow" button to "your game is ready" followed by about 50 seconds of "the host is loading the map" because the first person to join a lobby hosts the game for custom game modes.
-
Lina's gameplay consists mostly of left clicking on things.
-
Plus timing and aim. She only has three active skills, but two are skillshots, and her ult is risky since she's easy to kill. I have no problem with her at all, except that they removed half of the Slayers references from her.
-
I think she should put on more clothes before she catches a cold.
Oh wait.
-
The only thing having a higher level on your Dota 2
I tried to enter a ranked game. I couldn't: Min lvl 20.
So i presumed (other) matchmaking were based on level. The people i'm playing now sure do seem bad. The only sure winning move is to pick bounty hunter, people seem to be unable to defend against him.Do i have to have the beta to have custom games, or have i missed something ?
-
Bots should still have a valid index, though. In fact, a bot taking over for a player should have the same player index (they're always 1 through MaxClients inclusive in a Source game)
-
Yeah, you need the beta. But it's free if you can spare a 7.1GB download.

Alien Swarm and Dota 2 have the concept of a player separate from the character the player controls.
-
It's downloading. I just wanted to confirm my assumptions.
-

It's not based on level at all. They just require level 20 because usually your unranked MMR (which is hidden) will be stable enough for them to place you in ranked. And so people don't instantly queue ranked and get crushed because they've never played before and have to work their way up from 10 MMR or something.
-
Heroes of the Storm does this too, with a ranked league at level 25, and a team-only ranked league at 30 or 40 - can't remember which.
-
Make sure you check your settings when you start up the beta client for the first time. Some of them didn't carry over for me and my friends when they first released it and I'm not sure whether that has been fixed yet. You don't want to be in the middle of a teamfight and notice your autoattacking preferences are wrong or your minimap is missing something.
-
Doesn't HotS require a purchase to play? Do they want people to choose other games in the same genre? Because all the other ones are at least partially playable without spending money.
-
-
I sit corrected.
-
One thing I like is the quest system. Every so many levels, you unlock something cool. Including two extra hero rotation slots. But there are Quests, which get unlocked every day, and you can store up to 3 at once, for gold.
-
What do you use the gold for?
-
Yeah, you need the beta. But it's free if you can spare a 7.1GB download.
Guess that means you're out.
-
Buying characters and skins and things permanently so you don't have to rely on the week's picks. I have two 10k gold characters and one that was 4k.
-
You don't want to be in the middle of a teamfight and notice your autoattacking preferences are wrong or your minimap is missing something.
Even worse, you might suddenly realize you're playing DOTA2 and not a good game!
