Windows 10 beta is evil on phones sometimes
-
I like Windows 10 a lot. I liked 8 too, since it changed nothing in my workflow, but 10 gives me an awesome platform for development.
So I thought I'd try it on my phone, as I've told you people previously. Mostly, it's been nice. The new settings screen is cool, and things don't crash too often. My battery life suffers, but I assume that's due to all the error and usage reporting stuff.
Best things:
- The settings screen is better in every way
- Proper backgrounds
- The new store is cool
- Outlook is awesome
- The calculator app is amazing
Worst things:
- The start screen has to load
- Things crash sometimes
- Spartan, while fast, cannot save images
However, this week, I started having some connection problems. Previously, it had issues when I left areas with no signal and somehow it never regained the connection unless I turned wireless off and on again. This was never an issue in 8. But this week I got nothing. I rebooted and rebooted, and all I ever got was new emails. No webpages. Messaging wouldn't start half the time. It was awful.
...But the About screen in settings has one of the best Windows features originating from 8. Reset. The best part is, this is on all versions of Windows since 8. It's like a format, but you don't need a disk. Selling your computer? Reset, hand it over.
And in this case, it made my connections work again, because magic.

Water is wet ;)Spartan … cannot save images

To all of those, I respond 'beta software'. I expect the crashing; it was mostly when I was having those dumb connection issues, or when running legacy apps. Having to wait for the start screen makes me very unhappy when it happens, but that's usually just on boot.

First Google sign in since formatting: Google still thinks Windows Phone is Android. GG.
-
Also: Since doing that reset, a bunch of the bugs I was dealing with previously are gone, and the platform is much, much better.
Unrelated: I was just reading my email, and found out that Java has swapped out Ask for Yahoo.

Java has swapped out Ask for Yahoo.
Changing spy/malware does not really have any effect on my attitude towards them.
-
It's more the way you can set up telling people about this:
"Hey, did you hear Java has stopped including the Ask Toolbar?"
"Oh sweet! It's about time! They should have done tha..."
"Yeah, they added Yahoo Search instead."

It offends them so much they swear in Base64?
-
I was going for 'incoherent'. It certainly resembles base64, but I doubt anyone would put in that much effort.

Post was sufficiently descriptive.

I don't give a rat's arse what they think they're including, because Ninite strips it out.
