WTFast
-
I saw a commercial for this on a YouTube video. The commercial listed Dota 2 as "a popular MMO game" and boasted about their "over 100 servers" that they will route your packets through.

Came for Milwaukee PC story, am (slightly) disappoint.
-
Just imagine what speeds @ben_lubar could show off if he used WTFast or it not yet released brother TDWTFast as well as the planned TRWTFAST. He could probably play DF on a far away server and only get 10 seconds of input-lag!
-
Best part: they tried to buy positive Steam reviews from their users for free premium.
-
Haven't we had the discussion about something similar, but in hardware? And determined this shit cannot possibly work in any meaningful manner?
Also, they can't be serious with that name.
-
There was a kickstarter for a vague ... thing (router? Switch? Just a black box with no circuitry at all between input and output?) that made similar claims.
Maybe MMO stands for "massively multiplayer OBSERVERS", since you can have tons of people watching a DOTA2 game even though only 10 people are actually playing it.

BTW, the countdown on their website will reach 0 tonight. I doubt that anyone will care, though.

I got that ad when trying to watch this video:
-
I'm 3/2 of the weigh through a bubble of whine and I don't have any troubadours spelling words wright.
-
My phone shows their website as eight 0's. Whatever they were counting down to, we'll never know...
-
Yup. It's the countdown to nowhere!

It's a fairly common option.

I think it's been falling into disuse since the demise of 8.3 filenames?
-
It's a fairly common option.
About as common as installing Windows applications in C:\PROGRA~1.

Looks like there's nothing it can't do!If it really cures rage quits by 30-60% or bad breath by 70-90% I might gift a few copies...

Apparently the new version of Dota 2 released on my birthday has built-in WTFast.
Except that they say
The improvement is usually modest, but for a small percentage of players, the ping is significantly lower.
and they have significantly more than 100 servers. And the proxying is done to avoid DDoS attacks being able to hit individual games.
