Drive-by WTF

  • The Halloween pranks have started. I went home early today to help out a friend who has a small farm, and one of those roadside vegetable stands where they sell, among other things, fresh squeezed hot apple cider.

    While we were unloading the last of the crates of fruit and veggies from the truck, a car, filled with teenagers, comes roaring by with two bare butts thru the window, horn honking. Ha ha. 5 minutes later, they come by for a second pass. Ha. My friend's mother was offended, so he and I grabbed a couple of buckets of the hot cider, hid behind the truck, and as they came by for round 3, heaved the hot, sticky stuff right at them.

    I'd be kidding you if I said it was a direct hit (more got on the road and car than in the window), but from the screams, enough got in that we made our point (there was no round four).

    Ah, to be young again :)

    Amusing, however I have one (semi-serious) question....

    What do you squeeze, that's hot, that gives you alcoholic apple juice without having to ferment it first?

    Cider in no way needs to be alcoholic.

    Sounds like a waste of good cider though...

    And more importantly can it grow in a pot on my balcony in a Canadian climate?

    What's a waste? You mean that cider not being alcoholic is waste, or that throwing cider on someone's butt is a waste?

    btw, I didn't RTFA but if it doesn't include the sentence, "if it's clear and yella, ya got juice there fella; if it's spicy and brown, you're in cider town", then it's lame.

  • shit, i'm disappointed.  I was hoping someone was driving by shouting code that contradicts best practices

    include <cstdlib.h>
    //int program(){ - this didn't work
    int main(){
    int * foo;

    //int char - user a pointer instead

    //for(int c; c<10; c++) - why didn't this wokr

    WHILE((1 == 1|| 0) && !(0)) {foo = malloc(11); *((char*foo)="MEMOYR LEAK"; printf('\a');} //make some foo

    free(foo); //gets rid of foo

    return -1; //return -1 as the answer

    }

    Ah - thanks for that; this clears my confusion. (Cue 'All-American' Cider else-thread....)

    It never occured to me that 'cider' (without disclaimers such as 'non-alcoholic' or 'zero') could be a soft drink. Where I live(d) 'proper' cider is served slightly warm, cloudy, at least 7%abv and could contain rat-tails. ;)

     Don't get me started on the fizzy alcoholic 'apple' juice sold under brandnames such as 'Woodpecker', 'Blackthorn', and 'Strongbow' (the latter of which is the only one I can drink without any mixer.)

     It makes me chuckle when I see people drinking Strongbow and talking about how great English cider is.  Its like drinking Newcastle and talking up the virtues real English ales.  I had better English ale from a can I bought on a train than I ever have on tap in Canada.

     Ok, I'd better stop before I get going here; I'm a bit of a beer snob.

    uh... wait until spring, dude.

    Cuz the answer is "yes, but not during the winter part of it."

    Although it WAS 25 C for no reason this week... and then it poured cold rain that night.  Fuck global warming, it may be getting hotter on average but that's just translating day-to-day into "ridiculously unpredictable and annoying"

    That chick at the bar!

  • I have a question.  If this incident had happened the other way around, would you call it a drive by fruitiing?

    When she throws it in your face, you mean.
