What is a way (preferably in a language other than English) to acknowledge defeat? "Touche" comes close.
-
"Rendirse" means to surrender in Spanish.
-
"me rindo" is more appropiate.
but it's not one word...
uhm.. maybe perdí can work.
-
it's not one word
No such requirement in the spec.
Edit: Also my memory of high school Spanish is a bit rusty, but isn't "me rindo" just the conjugated form (first person singular present active indicative) of "rendirse?" Me rindo, te rindes, se rinde, nos rindemos, ses rinden, or something like that.

Basically anything where you pretend to be french would work. :-)

"Touche"
If you want to sound French, use the correct spelling: touché.
Yes it is a conjugaison from toucher (toutch) but here it makes a differences.
-
Maketa, with extra emphasis on the t.
-
'Touché' isn't an admission of defeat; it's more an acceptance of a point well made. It's a coincidence that it's often used when also admitting defeat.
-
GG in gamerspeech? I mean it stands for two words but nobody has to know, right?
"Ich gebe mich geschlagen" is the German words for admitting defeat... So maybe that helps?Filed Under: Some people simply say "shit" to ackknowledge defeat!
Also Filed Under: You can also say you are doing an Anti-Blakeyrat tm

"Kurwa".
Fun fact, it also works to acknowledge victory depending on context.
-
a point well made
Literally! It comes from fencing. The other guy gets past your guard and touches you with the point of his foil, you say touch (touche in French) to acknowledge his achievement.
-
i wasn't sure about that ' there, and google translate said it didn't go there. GOOGLE LIES
-
The one I suggested above is Japanese, and is pretty much "FAIL!", generally self targeted. It's in a less polite form, more likely the sort of thing you'd say in disappointment, rather than the more polite, sportsmanlike makemashita.
-
I'd give you the Klingon word for acknowledging defeat, but they have no such word.
jeghbe' tlhInganpu'.
Klingons do not surrender.
-
Evidently, I have no Klingon font installed.I am OK with this.

One assumes. But the rest of the sentence was in English, so it makes sense for that word to be in English.
Plus, he was correcting someone else's spellaring, so I had to.

point.
mine was: "he is talking about a french word conjugation, so he used the french word for conjugation"so I had to.

Sure. That'd be a silly thing to do, though.

You are ready for management and supervision.
No. :do_not_want.sctor:
My job is (or would be, if I had one at the moment) to verify whether stuff meets its spec. Therefore, paying attention to what specs do and do not require is at the very core of my job description.

I swear, if I had a position for you, I would hire you in an instant.

Damit! This notificiation probably got lost in those 500+ good posts that /t/1000 delivered.
It was a play of words. Conjugaison is French. And since we where talking about French spellering and not English ...

Not furry enough for you?
