A user with this newly created email address already exists

So, I'm registering at some site I will login only once in lifetime for 15 minutes. Obviously, I don't want to get any spam from it, so I'm going to use fake email. I usually get those from 10minutemail.com, which gives you an account that will be deleted in 10 minutes.

Imagine my surprise when I couldn't register because the newly generated email has already been used. Imagine my sigh when I replaced the address with random 40-letter gibberish at the same domain, and it still said it's been already used.

Sounds like they're actively blocking 10minutemail.com addresses

The only reason I could think of for that would be because they were getting deluged with new-account spam from someone who was abusing that service...

  • In my experience, if a website does that, just google "temporary email address" and go straight to the 3rd or 4rth page of results and you'll find plenty of alternatives that aren't blocked.

Yes, I'm giving unsolicited advice, I also like to kick puppies and eat babies.

You know, it's not that stupid to do it. Actually, if I made a wobsite, I would put in the same protection. Just, don't lie to the user!

I did this exact thing, as I always do in such situations. It took me six tries until I found one that works - that's the record.

Reminds me of the one time I tuned to a random radio station, and some cheap techno music was playing. I could swear the beat was just "vodka vodka vodka vodka" looped endlessly.

Crappy dubstep, crappy techno, crap is crap no matter where you turn.

And man, is the linked one crap.

Isn't dubstep a subgenre of techno?

Well, yes, I think it is. That's why when speaking of both of them, I only mention rock.

Unrelated: WTF Dischorse, why didn't I get any notifications for these replies?

No, the topic is not muted, and no, I didn't mute @Gaska either. :wtf:

Some of those I added because of spammers a while back.

Now you know you have to select one of the other domains on guerilla mail ...

Well given the fact that the problem went away shortly afterwards, I could probably prune the list back down.
