Discomoji are inadequate to express the feeling of having to use Perl on Windows

:WTF: why is that not the :sadface emoji?

Well, this is "astonished"
Yeah...

That's not an open mouth. It's a mustache.

Could change the site to use the Google emoji:
http://what.thedailywtf.com/images/emoji/google/frowning.png?v=0
Or Apple:

Or Twitter:

honestly of the bunch i think the google emoji are the best looking.
or maybe they're just the set i'm most used to seeing. ;-)
-
I prefer the Twitter set myself
-
hmm..... not sure if good idea or evil idea to make the emoji set a per user setting with a global default....
-
Why would that be evil?
-
Ah TDWTF - the only place where ranting about perl gets you an in depth discussion about emoji styles
-
depends on how it's implemented in discourse. i can see it applying globally to your own posts (so everyone sees the set you chose for your posts) that would be evil.
-
honestly of the bunch i think the google emoji are the best looking.
No - it looks like someone melted a rubber duck.
-
Utf8 already does that you know?
-
well there is no accounting for personal insanity.
:-P
-
Utf8 already does that you know?
yes it does, however on non mobile phones it's a pain to type UTF8 emoji and on desktops they have a nasty habit of turning into white squares if one does not have the right set of fonts or the moon is in the wrong celestial house so that the browser does not select a font with the emoji glyphs in it.
-
The Twitter or Apple ones are the least offensive.
Part of the problem would still be that
:(
gets Discomapped to:frowning:
and none of those look like they're frowning, but do match:(
.
Except the Google one, which looks like there's something wrong with it.
-
I agree. But using desktop is doing it wrong. Mobile is the future.

hmm.... there was a disparaging comment about discourse behavior on mobile made by a certain discodev recently....
i can't remember who it was or what they said.... but it did happen recently i know that
-
As we've discussed before, :( is not an emoji in the first place. The ENTIRE PROBLEM HERE is that Atwood & Goons thinks you can replace emoticons with emoji, when that is obviously false. (None of those images match :( very well at all.)
-
-
hmm.... misremembered the words for the abbr tags. corrected.
-
He even replied to me π
-
I think all three alternatives are better than our current set.
Of course, what I really want is phpBB emoticons. But whatever.
Back on topic:

yes it does, however on non mobile phones
I'll just bet. Why, my last non mobile phone didn't even have a display!
-
To me that says "Code smell" more than "sad". As in "...ew...what is that stench... oh god I'm going to have to clean it up aren't I..."
-
Or "I drank 14 pints last night and woke up missing a shoe with a traffic cone on my head".
-
-
How about something more like this:
Note: I just bastardized @xaade's,
-
That just looks like this guy through a porthole.

So it took 3 loads of the original topic for Discourse to show me the post which says where the Jeffee posts were moved to.
