Device support
-
This is starting to really really really really irritate me.
-
But is my device supported? I NEED TO KNOW!
On a more serious note - I just tried embedding a video using the standard
iframe
and it works fine, so it's just the onebox it seems. But we didn't update Discourse lately, did we?

If anyone other than @onyx or @aliceif wants to join the fun, just ask.
-
So... YouTube done broke their onebox code? I mean, yes, it's a bug, but for once it doesn't seem like it's Duckhorse's fault.
-
For reference:
<iframe>
embed doesn't have that bug.
-
-
Fine, I'll pull a Ben then and post a unnecessarily big image to satisfy you:
Happy now?
-
I clicked your video my didn't receive any grumpy cat ... COMPLAIN!
-
-
Et tu, Opera?
-
The heart? Yes, they broke bookmarks. Well, used to be called "stash" until a few versions ago.
-
-
That devicesupport guy makes some good music.
-
-
He also does grumpy cat video's ...
Does he know how to use apostrophes correctly, though? Maybe you should try asking

Not for a couple of weeks:

-
Looks like there's an upstream fix in the works:

We'll let you two have your fun in private, thank you.
Also, thanks Google for breaking lots of existing shit that used Youtube's API. Backwards compatibility? Who cares, we roll v3 baby!
-
It's going to piss off my fiancee, since one of the affected platforms is iOS prior to v7, and she refuses to upgrade her iphone 5 past iOS6
-
she refuses to upgrade her iphone 5 past iOS6
Why?
iOS7 added a lot of usability to iOS.
-
She doesn't like the flat design.
I thought she'd cave after a few months, but she's now at the point, a good 18 months after release, that most apps can't be updated and she's still sticking with it. She doesn't want to upgrade to a new phone that will have a newer iOS on it, either. I think she'll keep this until it falls apart
-
-
I've offered to jailbreak it and install some themes (haven't looked into it, but I imagine that's possible). She seems strangely reluctant
-
Every time I see a video and can't see the title due to devicesupport I get so fucking annoyed, it's not even funny.
I want to scream.
-
Same here. It's an annoying bug. Let's you not know the nature of the video you're not watching anyway.
-
the title appears when you click it. it's a little less annoying since i found that.
-
It's because until now video title was fetched via API (at runtime), but now video title will be saved as HTML at the time of oneboxing.
They could also just embed the iframe directly... but I guess that's too easy.
-
IFrames have their own issues; that's probably why they're avoiding doing that

Aaaand GMaps' iframes don't even work now.
Refused to display 'https://www.google.pl/maps/place/Pacific+Ocean/@-13.7036473,-148.9712961,3z…x76ed042c30f318eb:0x8eff14a070876cbc?dg=dbrw&newdg=1&ll=&spn=&output=embed' in a frame because it set 'X-Frame-Options' to 'SAMEORIGIN'.
-
-
Oh I thought that was the point ...
Well, they used to. Seems like they started using SAMEORIGIN in GMaps for... whatever reason?
Edit: oh hey, and it was reported two weeks ago too. *dull surprise*

This is starting to really really really really irritate me.
Beta 9 seems to have fixed. Will have to rebake old posts, it seems, to get old stuff back. But new ones are correct.

Is that so?
Quite so.
I'm going to resist the urge to create a YouTube account, upload a video titled "https://youtube.com/devicesupport", and post it here.
-
"https://youtube.com/devicesupport"
Make it a copy of what's at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UKY3scPIMd8 or "Darude - Sandstorm".

I bet there's already 400 of them.

Dammit, I was expecting it to be a Rick Astley video, but I was fooled!
