Omitted from these rack-mounting instructions..

  • Something very basic has been omitted from these instructions. Can you find it?
Hint: you don't need to know anything about rack-mounting servers

Ok.. not exactly an earth-shattering failure but it does make for some funny reading. I especially like "the ocking screw hoes in the rai". Sounds like someone's having a fit.

  • What the he ??  I've never seen a font ose one of its characters.  Maybe they squeezed the font coser together too much and the narrow characters got kerned out of existence?

  • ROF_O_

  • Heheh I especially liked step 11, "When the beze is in pace, ock the beze by inserting the key into the ock in the ower right corner of the beze and turning it cockwise unti it stops". Or maybe it's just the beer talking.

  • Oh, man! This used to happen all the time with certain page layout software when I worked at a print shop. It's, like, surprise: you don't get "m" today!

  • Have you ever tried typing installation instructions without an 'L' key?  It's better than not having an 'E' key:

With the your server computer big black box for computing pulled out from the cabinet stand for computing boxes boxs, align the your holes openings aperatures gaps in the handle handgrip with the small holes gaps in the mounting brackets things on the front side of the server computing box.

  • See the novel (in french) La Disparition (300 pages without any E). It has been translated in english as A Void.

  • Ah, the Christmas instructions...

I agree - it's very difficult. You can't even do it in your example :P

The english translation was also done without using E.  Impressive.

  • I remember back in my university days you could print to a laser printer for a small cost. One day, I took my latest printout home and didn't realise for some time that the letter 'e' was missing. It turned out the laser printer's hard disk containing all the font data had a bad sector exactly where the 'e' was stored.

Any E's you think you see in my example are actually schwas that have been rotated 180 degrees.  I can understand your confusion...

  • I'd have to say, my favorite bit was in step one: Engage the sots with the studs.

Sounds like somebody will be having a good time at the bars tonight.
