The Codeless Code: "Exit" Interview
-
Justiceporn for hiring managers:
Bawan scrutinized a sheet of paper. “Then perhaps you can tell me why Hibernate, JPA, EJB3, and ORM are all mentioned at the top of your resume, under the major heading Principal Skills.”
“Oh!” said the applicant. “My recruiter told me to put those there. He said they would prove most beneficial for interviews.”
-
And yet businesses still continue to use the same recruiters after being told by the programming department that they aren't getting useful applicants.
-
But to be fair, they also put those things in the list of requirements without actually requiring them, so turn about's fair play I say (of course, I haven't looked for a job in over a dozen years).

That site looks pretty interesting; I'm getting a strong "Acts of Gord" vibe from it.
Filed under: That reminds me, I haven't re-read Acts of Gord in a while

I don't get it. Is this based on a real story or 100% fiction?
If these are real stories, but "prettified" using these kung fu memes (a-la the front page stuff), then.... meh, what a waste. I like the raw stuff, man, not these wannabe writers' shat out fantasies.

These are fiction. They're based on the concept of koans: fictional stories designed to teach something about real life. But humorous.
Ah, Wiki has an article on the concept: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hacker_koan

Translated chat conversation from a moment ago:
Manager: Hi all, we're looking for a JS+NodeJS+PHP dev. If anyone knows one, please refer them to me.
Coworker: Is the offer on LinkedIn?
Manager: Not yet. I wanted to comment it to all of you before I get a shit load of magisterium candidates.
