jmroth, png is your friend :)

  • I don't get it.  Are you implying that it's impossible to have a scientific article on love? If so, you are incorrect.

  • I know a Dr Love. Would that help?

I'm not sure what you don't get. The funny part is the request for an "expert on romantic love" to assess the article. How do you define such an expert? Who would be qualified?

  • How about these people:

Kierkegaard, Søren. Stages on Life's Way. Transl. Walter Lowrie, D.D. Princeton: Princeton University Press, 1940.
Levi-Strauss, Claude. Structural Anthropolgy. London: Allen Lane, 1968; New York: Penguin Books, 1994. Structural Anthropology. (volume 2) London: Allen Lane, 1977; New York: Peregrine Books 1976.
Nietzsche, Friedrich. Human, All Too Human. Transl. R.J. Hollingdale. Cambridge: Cambridge University, 2nd Edition, 1996.
Wiseman, Boris. Introducing Levi-Strauss. New York: Totem Books, 1998.
Denis de Rougemont, Love in the Western World. Pantheon Books, 1956.
Francesco Alberoni, Falling in love, New York, Random House, 1983.

The ugliness caused by jpg doesn't reallty affect legibility here.

The image is "almost legible" because it's scaled back via HTML and most browsers just remove pixels. View the image separately and it displays in full. That's not really related to any format, none of which have magical resample properties. Safari resamples adjusted images, and so will the future FFX3.

Opera's had this feature since 6 or 7 (and it caused an interesting problem on a page that tested various image upscalers - they relied on the browser's built-in scaling for "point resampling", and IMHO, that picture always looked the best of the bunch).

  • WTF Well apparently the forum software is not able to cope with pictures >1000px in width. (The original picture has not been resized/compressed.) Duh.

Nietzche is an asshat.  Kierkegaard is cool though.

I believe Wikipedia would call that "an inflammatory, unverifiable statement."  Not that there's anything wrong with that. :-)

He's also quite dead, so perhaps we should change this to "was an asshat?"  What does everyone else on the Internet think?

I don't get it. Are you implying that it's impossible to have short amusing posts on this site? If so, you are incorrect.

    Translation: Life isn't that serious.
