"Hacking"
-
I read this comment on today's article:Ozz:Niki:This brings into question how you feel about the evolution of language. If enough people use a word incorrectly, does the incorrect usage become correct?I'm afraid the misuse is already much worse than this. A couple days ago I was browsing and I clicked a link that said "laptop hacks." I was in for a rude surprise. So now "Using documented features" and "Pressing F6" is now called "Hacking"

Irritating. This is outright disgusting.

Jesus, yeah I forgot about that one!
The janitor hacked my computer last night. Yeah, he hacked my whole office.
-
See, I thought "Cracker" was someone who did phone phreaking.
-
No! That's phracking.
And a "hacker" is someone who figures out how to get my ringtone changed on my phone.
And a "cracker" is someone who resets my BIOS password when I forget it. Because THAT'S hardware!

A real hacker would get you to do it yourself, and you'd still wonder how the hell he managed it.
Before computers, hackers were called "magicians"

Yeah, the hacker vs cracker thing annoyed for a while, but I finally gave up when it became obvious that there are far, far more idiot reporters / retarded movie makers/ clueless people in the world than people who understand the difference.

Are you kidding? There are far, far more idiot sysadmins/programmers/engineers/service techs in the world than there are ones who understand the difference.

Hereabouts you don't need a cracker for that. The government is all too willing to inject billions into banks, all they have to do is ask.
