The "Suppurt Admin. Asst."

  • You know scary times are afoot when the main Administrative Assistant cannot even craft a legible email... This really begs the question "What makes (them) tick?"

I have changed the names to protect the innocent (and guilty)

Yeah, PC Magazine interviewed a tech support guy in India - apparently it's common practice to give out 'westernized' versions of their names so that people can remember and transcribe them more easily.

  • He's a latter day ee cummings.

  • That's part of what you get when you offshore your staff just to pay smaller salaries.

I've had my share of dealing with Engrish speakers. English is not my first language either, but I make a point of being, in the very least, understandable. And I am just fluent enough to feel offended by Engrish as well.

When the job requires you to be the Administrative Assistant for a bunch of Americans, ability to communicate with Americans should really be a job requirement.  English isn't your first language?  Well you'd better freaking learn it.

  •

All your base are belong to us!

  • One small ommission. He is American, has no detectable accent, and seems to speak "normally" so to say.. so yes - he just has terrible communication skills ;)

Lots of good laughs from this thread though ;)

  • His name is George, isn't it? Pity he didn't say that he was takening over ...

So, what you're saying is that he's a habitual gaming forum poster?

  • I keep wishing we had written 'Suppurt Admin. Ass.' for some reason.
