Where was I when I missed the grand forum avatar shuffle?
-
There seems to be a theme:
(PSworx)
(dromed)
(bstorer)
I feel obligated to follow suit, as if this is what all the cool guys are doing.
-
There's also the other user who put googly eyes in his.
I'm making a set of these because it makes me happy.
-
Don't forget joe.edwards@imaginuity.com:
I'm sure there are more

I can't speak for the others but I got the idea from just that guy. Remarkably, I can't remember his name either. Apparently his avatar outlived him.
-
Fucking about.
-
-
I must say, I noticed bstorer's just a minute ago and loved it. I need to find something creative too.
-
Compliments for Daniel Beardsmore's icon as well.

Whow, dunno what's on it, but our firewall classifies it as:

You have tried to access a web page which is in violation of your internet usage policy.
First time I see one of those :X
URL: pliv.com/things/avatars/
Category: Illegal or Unethical(DailyWTF was is in the "unrated' category, which they blocked last week, but seems the unblocked it again)

dude wtf
Maybe the filter doesn't like my filenames.
-
Is there some unwritten rule to the size/format of avatar images? I tried to upload one, but evidently it didn't take.
-
Those anonymous ones are 79x79 (perfect! wait! no it's not!), and maybe that's the max.
Also, when I uploaded my new one, the image appeared to have changed in the avatar prefs, but I had to manually save the total prefs once more for it to actually take and keep and stick.
-
I'm trying to use a GIF. Do I need a JPEG or soemthing?
-
Could try it.
The output of avatar.aspx is always jpeg anyway, so I'm not sure that would make any difference.

I've just uploaded a GIF, works as expected.
-
jesus, I didn't even see that "update" button next to the browse button. I'm retarded.
-
You CAN upload GIFs but the software seems to blur the picture horribly if you leave the converting up to it. So I'd recommend you upload it as JPEG right away, because then you can control the compression.
-
My GIF looks about as bad here as it does on my hard drive. It was originally 40x40 and I doubled it.
-
Count me in as having an elite avatar, even though it sorta blends in. :)
-
Except it's hardly noticable

It's subtle.
That's good.
Subtlety should be taught to kids.
-
What the hell, I'll join in too :)
-
damn...
I was sure I knew the name of the person with the anonymous avatar with the googly eyes. but it turns out I didn't.

I think you mean Einsidler.
-
Yeah! That's the one.
heh heh heh... googly eyes...
-
-
Control_Alt_Kaboom, what happened to the shot in the head avatar? I thought that one was great...
-
I dunno. I was just playing around with avatars. And the shot in the head one didn't look quite right.
I'm still debating whether or not to restore the shot in the head one or leave the Soviet flag one.
-
Ah, this is where people are talking about the slightly modified avatars, and I tried created a whole new thread! Guess that's what I get for skipping the WTF for a couple months.
-
Well, if you do feel obligated to do it, i made the one i'm currently using in about 30 seconds. With mspaint.exe.
-
Well, I'm in. Inspired by the 'Homerbrain' image.
And yes, if all the cool kids were jumping over the cliff, I would too ;-)
-
I don't think we had a cthulhu one yet.

Why, thank you. It's nice to be recognized. I was originally going to do something really subtle, but I said to myself, "Screw that, let's throw some super nova in there!"
For the record, the first one I remember seeing was joe.edwards@imaginuity.com's.
-
just put together a quick pic, so I thought I'd make this my first post using it.
-
hi
-
With all the code written on here, at a glance this site just looks like a coder help forum rather than a way for me to kill time at work. So I decided to do my replicate avatar with the resources available here, namly mspaint. Looking like arse was the kind of effect I was trying to achieve.
(quietly getting fed up of doing proffesional grade websites with school boy grade tools)

Believe us, it's pretty easy to waste time on here.
*goes back to work*

I thought i might join in the fun too but i think i used the wrong head.

Hey, that looks like...
Indeed!
Anonymous-guy upside-down waving his cactoid arm!

That's actually what I saw first. I think I need psychological help...

Anonymous-guy upside-down waving his cactoid arm!Actually, he's being held upside-down off of a seventh-story balcony. Mr. Anonymous borrowed some money from the wrong people and didn't pay it back.

Me too.
I guess we just didn't expect dicks on this board.

Let me in, let me in!

i'm sad and pitiful because i immediately recognised the gimp plasma plugin.

Gifs are auto-converted to jpegs? That means no animated gifs, I guess. I was wondering why nobody had an animated avatar.
Damn, I was just thinking about making one.

Thought i should join in!
