Come listen to my band!
-
I don't know if any of you already know this, but I'm in a band called "7 second hurricane". We've done a few gigs, and for the past year we've been working on recording material.
We've finally released our first single today "Picture of pain" and I thought some of you guys might like to take a listen. We've released it via a distributor who has distributed it to <technical-term>shitloads</technical-term> of services (allegedly over 600 of them).
It's available to stream (on spotify, google play music, etc), and it's also available to buy (on itunes, amazon, etc).
Here are links to some of the places you can listen to the single:
The plan is to release 4 singles over the remainder of the year (each single contains 3 songs), and then at the end of the year we will release an album.
I'll keep you updated when we release new stuff if you guys are interested.

Ah. Ok. Hanzo'd!
-
Bookmarked for when I get home.

All these things require logins and / or credit card info... and of course, Facebook login but no Google(+) login on Spotify...
Sigh. I guess one more account won't kill me if there are no other options...
-
Sorry man, we will be releasing the tracks on youtube soon. I'll post a link when we do.

I could listen to the samples on Amazon without logging in or anything.

You, sir, truly are TR .
Is that your voice or someone else's?

Go to Amazon, you can listen to a 30-second snip, and here someone pronounce "many" as if it were "manny". Other than that it's not bad.

I missed that!
Streamed it on Play. Was good though.

Streamed it on Play.
When I tried that I got "album not found". Nope--"Couldn't find the album."
I'd post a screenshot but my music library is embarrassing: it consists of one album each of Katy Perry, Lorde, and Imagine Dragons, because they were all free[1], and one single song that I bought ("This Will Be The Day", the RWBY season 1 theme.)
[1] FREE! I'm not sure where the limit of what I wouldn't download if it were free is. Probably "rap".
-
Listened to the previews on Amazon. First question - what on Earth are you guys playing? The first song seems like a decent alternative/prog-ish piece, the second is an (a bit awful) radio ballad, and the third is... uh, pop-punk?
I'd buy the first song, but not all þree of þem.
-
Is that your voice or someone else's?
It's someone else's, the singer writes most of the songs.
Streamed it on Play. Was good though.
Thanks man
First question - what on Earth are you guys playing
Indie rock, we try to have a different style for each song otherwise it all ends up sounding the same.
I'd buy the first song, but not all þree of þem.
Well the first one is the single and the other 2 are b sides, but we've had some people prefer the second one and some people prefer the third. The first is my favourite too.
-
all þree of þem.
Huh, apparently if you hit "T" and "H" very quickly on the Windows on-screen keyboard, it inserts a thorn. ON AN ENGLISH KEYBOARD. HOW THE FUCK DOES THAT EVEN MAKE SENSE.

Come on, there are bands with upwards of 30 years of output which innovate all the time while keeping to a single genre. You can do a lot in the bounds of a genre, and it helps to have some sort of identity.
But oh well, playing should be fun, so whatever floats your goat. I still think that first one has the most potential though.
Also:

So what do you play?

Maybe it thought you're from Reykjavik?
Poland, Iceland, it's all in the group of "one of those weird European -lands"...
-
So what do you play?
I primarily play bass in the band, but also some piano/keyboard where needed.
Piano is my first love, I only started playing the bass as a favour for a friend when his bassist dropped out last minute before a gig. I've been playing it for about a year and half now. I had previous experience with the guitar, so the bass was fairly easy to pick up. I've never really been that interested in the bass though.

Yes, I understand that. I think our body of material is rather cohesive as a whole, maybe we didn't chose the correct b-sides to go with this single. We were trying to make sure we didn't choose a group of tracks that all sounded the same, the guys were afraid that the single would feel a little flat if we did.
I still think that first one has the most potential though.
Then hopefully you'll like some of the other stuff we release later this year. Thanks for the feedback.

Just streamed on Google. I quite liked all three, and that's as much of a review as you're getting out of me

I thought you put those thorns in on purpose. I can't repro, though.

REPRO'D: hold down T key, wait for the popup, slide to the right...
þ
Looks like other keys have 'alt menus' as well:ĥĝðšäóūñĉŵ

7 second hurricane" is also my nickname in the bedroom
But I'm moving near the speed of light.... so general relativity.
-
-
Hehe... gives new meaning to the word "þorny"...
-
Can't reliably repro either now, but it seems that the alt-keys popup becomes active a split second before it shows up. And þ is fairly close to h in that popup.
-
Thorn? In German?
What for? Have I been lied to in school? Again? o.O
-

Yeah, hitting T and then dragging my finger down to H gives me a þ fairly reliably without the alts even displaying, so I would imagine that's what you were doing... þe myßéy is solvē!
-
Thorn? In German?
It’s also on AltGr-P on my French AZERTY layout, for some reason. I can get æ, ŋ, ø, þ and other weird characters easily with it, but no œ :(
Filed under: At least the `œ` entity works
-
Well... Actually, looking at it I have
¤
(dafuq?),ß
for some reason,ł
andŁ
.I completely forgot about that shit TBH since I use US QWERTY 99.9% of the time.
Oh, but digraphs that I might actually use are only on a separate layout which then removes
Q
,W
,Y
andX
completely and replaces then with digraphs. And I getŽ
twice. Fun.
-
The T2 layout just adds all kinds of letters and symbols that get used in Europe to the old normal German QWERTZ layout.
-
And Windows 7 doesn't support it natively (I think 8.1 does) - nor do most German keyboards have the T2 layout letters visible.
It's enabled on most Linux distros, though.

Ah, I wasn't aware it's a different layout. I thought it's just a name for what you call "normal" layout that I didn't know about before. The more you know...
I'll stick to my "US normal", thanks, I have this weird notion of being able to use my brackets without moving my left hand in a position it shouldn't be in or use both hands just to reach a bracket.
-
Ah, I wasn't aware it's a different layout.
Well it's only kind of sort of a new one - all letters and symbols of the old layout are the same - all that got added were Alt Gr combinations.
-
Well, and completely obscure dead key combinations:
⑨ - That's Alt GrÄ followed by 9.
Alt GrÄ normally means weird overstrikey line, though. As seen in Đ.
-
Ummm... I'll use a character map, thanks. Less work than remembering that
-
you'll be surprised how easy it is to memorize stuff like that if you put your mind to it (see any heavy EMACS(die die die) or ViM (all hail ViM) user :-P )
-
You forgot Visual Studio's CtrlK and CtrlR multipart combinations.
-
those too. athough i mapped most of the common ones to G1 through G18 (yes i switched to using a logitech gaming (the G510 to be specific) keyboard at work for the extra keys)

I'll just leave this here....

ViM
Vim has it's digraph input Ctrl+K, Char1, Char2 in insert mode. You can run
:dig
in normal mode to get a list of the character codes. Here's a few examples:Ctrl+K, <, < gives

Ctrl+K, >, > gives»
Ctrl+K, 3, 4 gives¾
