While watching the first episode of this yesterday all I could think of was:
were they thinking? How did they get money for this crap?Special agent Avery Ryan works to solve crimes as a CyberPsychologist for the FBI.
Some stupid:
- "Deep web" forum admins can BSOD your computer remotely
- "Deep web" forum admins are super paranoid but will give you access after two hours
- The first forum about GorePorn (I don't recall the exact term for people who get aroused while watching people butchered) in the "Deep Web" is where your suspect is
- Anyone can buy and install a PLC card and control from subway trains to elevators with your mobile phone
- Hacking the FBI elevators is good
- All the stupid "black hat/white hat" dialogues
- Patricia Arquette
- Dawson (yes, from Dawson's Creek)
- When computer forensics don't work, use micro-expression analysis of suspects
At least they got the whole Bluetooth deal fine.

You mean the charade of them searching for the suspect with the Bluetooth scanner? I guess because they would have to be in range.You were being sarcastic.

The first episode was worse:
- The opening shot has Patricia Arquette operating two Macbooks at once, each hand on one trackpad.
- There were a couple moments where it felt like CSI: Dora the Explorer.
- In one scene,one of the guys is looking at specs for a baby monitor, and finds that it has a MicroSD card. So he tells his partner, and then it shows one of those CSI holographic recreations of a hand slowly pulling the card out of the side of the device. Back in reality, the second guy looks at the baby monitor for a second, and says "They must have pulled the card!"
- Another scene, they've found the criminal's social media page and are looking at pictures of her with her boyfriend and one of the team says "I know these guys. They like fast cars" to which the other guy responds "Fast cars... The witness said he heard tires peeling out after the kidnapping!" as if only a gearhead would be driving away.
It's kind of a ridiculous train wreck.

I guess forensics scientists feel this way when they watch regular CSI.
That said, the early reviews from non-technical people are panning the series too, so I guess this one won't survive very long.

If they can't even depict hacking into a server in a non-cringeworthy way, an entire series dedicated to cybercrime is going to be pure fiction.

Well... I don't know how it's presented in the series, but if you gain physical access to the electronics controlling a subway or elevator, couldn't you actually install a "remote control" device? Obviously it's no easy task, but a dedicated hacker should be able to achieve it.

In the episode it seemed like you could just take a
Raspberry Pinefarious hacking device and place it anywhere and remote control whatever it is.
