Any application that can be written in JavaScript, will eventually be written in JavaScript. - Jeff Atwood (2007)
This is a listing of all the technologies that are being re-re-re-invented in javascript.

That explains Discourse

tecnhically not JS but JSON.... still

-
wait..... it's a resume.... the ENTIRE point is to not be anonymouse!
-
For developers, by developers
Devs aren't the ones looking at Resumes at the first pass, it's HR
-
OMG! it's all the way down!
-
Why JSON? WHat's wrong with Word? Or even LaTeX?
-
Why is last in that sentence?
-
Because that's where I put it
-
Gitlet - Git implemeted in Javscript
Bonus points for needing the standard
git
CLI tool to clonegitlet
in the first place.

Completely disregarding the question.
-
It does seem like another example of doing it because it can be done, not because it's necessary.
That person managed to get 405 suckers to part with money for it though

Completely disregarding the question.
Actually, I think they answered it in the first word.

Have any of wondered why you have to input your resume in every freaking job portal out there? Because there's no standard which you can tell, for example, LinkedIn, to export to and import in dice.com
There's some sort of XML format out there too, so not entirely a WTF.

In my experience, they normally accept PDF and Word formats. And there's always plaintext.
-
You totally missed the point of the whole thing.

No. Your résumé needs to be in JSONx, so it's enterprise-ready.
-
It's weird, I can't seem to find any Javascript interpreter in Javascript.
(inb4 smartasses: one that doesn't use eval).

That sound you just heard, that was @blakeyrat's head exploding and taking out a chunk of the Pacific North

Where the fuck is the Pacific Northeast? Is that... Japan? Or...?
-
Since Git's in C and you can compile C into JS, I have no idea why you'd think this would surprise me in any way.

My brain is just not fucking working lately...

Surprise? No. Infuriate? Yes.
Blakey hates Git. Blakey hates the "Javascriptification" of everything. So Git in JS = hate2

Oh nice.
You know, I predicted once than in 10 years websites will just be a single < canvas> element and a full virtual machine in Javascript running a rendering engine for some external HTML document. And I still stand by my prediction.

This. Every time I need to review resumes, HR strips away all the formatting and converts to plaintext before I get them. And that's fine by me, it's easier to find the experience-to-fluff ratio. I feel bad for the people that wasted hours getting their resume to look perfect with Word...

Are you sure? Looks answered to me:
And yes, that's what I
wassaw at first.

Or maybe ha actually was the answer to the question?

This one?
Using the Sunspider benchmark, the interpreter is about 200 times slower than Spidermonkey's native interpreter

Ahem...

Do I look like I care?
I do not.

I told you all it's going too far. But nooo, you all had to defend Atom. See what happened? SEE?
Completely disregarding the question.
The first word is "Yes" though.
Damn it, Hanzo'd... no, I'm not deleting it now, screw you! There was effort involved in typing that!

This evil must be stopped! How can we get people to abandon their folly and return from the darkness of Javascriptification?
