PROBABLY DUPLICATE: More fun with user cards!
-
Continuing the discussion from The "Post Here For Likes Notification Spam" Thread:
Open my user card.
Close it by clicking outside of it.
Try to select text in my post below where the user card was.You will fail.
-
believe it's another symptom of this support ticket:
-
Is this the same as my bug report?
-
Oh ... might be?
-
Is this the same as my bug report?
It's the same bug but IIRC your version was "fixed" aka Discofixed
-
So they set the opacity to
0%
… and all the usercard links still work!!!Seriously, I repro'd the bug, but instead of selecting, just clicked; it went to your profile
-
Have we updated within the last few hours? @PJH
-
If you remember where the buttons are, you can even filter posts... and send PMs...
-
and all the usercard links still work!!!
The elements are all still there, so you can e.g. drag an avatar out of the middle of the post.
Strangely enough, it doesn't seem to work on some posts/users. I just tried with @Onyx's and nothing.
-
IIRC your version was "fixed"
Yes, but until we update we won't know for sure how fixed it is.
Have we updated within the last few hours?
I think we'd only be updated if there was a new beta release (and if the "fix" was in that release).
-
Did you ninja edit? Redraws on posting / editing seems to discofix it until you start messing with it again.
-
Oh and this bug is back:
That's not my user info.
-
Now I can't even click on topic reply unless I scroll it around and find a position where it's not covered!
I didn't notice it until now. Either @PJH just updated us very recently, or someone's usercard is causing a special kind of broken.
-
Back?
It never went away, I think.
-
this bug
is backwas never actually fixedFTFY
Edit: Hanzo'd because I was trying to do HTML and a quote from my phone.

Not since this if /admin/upgrade is to be believed.
-
Either @PJH just updated us very recently, or someone's usercard is causing a special kind of broken.
I've been seeing that at least yesterday. Looks like last update was March 2nd:

Ok.
I guess we'll have to wait, then ...

Opacity was a dumb solution. They should have used something like, oh, I dunno,
display
. Maybe use a setting likedisplay: none;
. Just a thought
-
Or jQuery's
.hide()
-
Maybe use a setting like display: none;. Just a thought
Surely you jest! Such space-age technology is surely too advanced for us mere hoomans!
-
Or jQuery's .hide()
which pretty much literally applies the
display:none
CSS.in fact i think that is LITERALLY what it does.
-

Says the smeghead.
-
As the Esperantinos would say: Bonvolu alsendi la pordiston? Lausajne estas rano en mia bideo!
-
La singe est dans l'arbre.

Why on earth would we use things for what they're designed for? This is discourse!

*sly drop*
*nonchalant slink away*

I think I went too far on the obscurity scale. No flags will be given to neither of you.
-
Flag for… running witht he joke?
-
Oh, no, your response was fine in that regard and you got a like for it.
I was, however, a quote, and it was supposed to be in-character. Which nobody got. Or so it would appear from the responses.

This is a remix of some other Megaman track and I can't remember what it is. It's going to drive me crazy!
Well, guess I have to go replay Megaman so I can find it... :P
-
Another semi-related bug: If you leave Discourse open for a long time (on my desktop, it was probably open for a month), weird shit starts happening. Even through multiple site update refreshes, some clickable links became clickable only on their very bottom border. As in, I could only like something by clicking on the very tip of the heart icon. Only the pixel on the very tip.

-
Then Discourse must leak memory at a slower rate when not in use. I'm already up over 500MB used for this tab, and I've only had the site open for roughly 5 hours.
-
Some how I've managed to avoid this bug until just now!
It can't even be broken consistently!

Related, I just got this...
Never, EVER seen that message before. And yes, it broke any ability to browse anything till I killed Chrome.
-
I fucking give up!
Just open a Usercard from the avatar of a different post and close it.
-
Just open a Usercard from the avatar of a different post and close it.
Or, you know, Discodevs could use
display: none;
...
-
You could add a rule for that to the stylesheet - with the tiny side-effect of probably not being able to see any Usercards ever.
-
I'm pretty sure I could fix it with proper JS as well, which can either be used as a userscript or we could stick in the header for a temporary fix.
But that would take time, and I have actual work. I'd also prefer if it would get properly fixed instead of patching over someone's fuckups.

#user-card:not(.show) { display: none; } #user-card.show { display: block; }
This'll remove the animation, but what the hey
