GAC, Oracle, BadImageFormatException(s) oh my!

Has anyone had random failures where .NET loads the wrong bitness ODP.NET? Even when your assembly is explicit in the bitness(not AnyCPU)?
How the fuck do you break the GAC and get it to load the WRONG bitness of an assembly? My only guess is that Oracle decompiled a generated publisher assembly and re-engineered it to duck tape in their bullshit OCI version check.

Shall I send this to the IHOC for further perusal?

As I recall from this shit, I ended up having to install 32 bit and 64 bit to get 64 bit to work.

By using it.
Seriously. I've seen more problems caused by the GAC than I've seen fixed by the GAC.

Yes, I know, I Hate Oracle Club, but I didn't remember that until I looked at the OP after googling IHOC.

Who knows, maybe the non-faith-specific homeless children are CPU architecture experts.

[...]re-engineered it to duck tape[...]
And here I was, marching off to exploit this obvious spelling error when I stumbled upon this:
Well played Duck Tape, well played.
-
Now you know. Duck Tape is duct tape.
-
It's genius, actually.
-
It was actually duck tape in WWII, and the name "duct tape" was invented in the 50s after it got popular in civilian use.

International House O' Cheese
No, actually, IHOC always meets in the closest convenient IHOP.

“Duck” is a type of weave used with cotton, of which this kind of tape is made. It has nothing to do with birds, or with ducts, per sé.

Thank you for the explanation but I was indeed just barely able to click on the link in hungrier's post :p

That's the first time I've heard them called that.

Closer than a lot of people get it, but it's Latin, not Spanish or French; there's no accent over the e.

I stand corrected (there’s words you don’t read here very often). FWIW, my excuse is that in Dutch it’s often spelled “persé”, as one word and with the accent to indicate the word doesn’t end in a schwa. Though technically incorrect, it’s acceptable Dutch.
