I can certainly understand that, but this is the Sam's 10 Minutes series we're talking about here, not some rare first printing of Harry Potter or Star Wars or something. Ha ha.

Technical manuals are always priced not based on the expected value of the book, but based on the cost of printing. The cost of printing is entirely determined by the number of books that they print, which is based on the expected number of sales. So, more popular books cost less, and less popular books cost more. That's just how the industry works.
This book is obscure and pointless. They probably printed less than 50k of the things. As such it will be horribly expensive. Probably always was.

No, only manager types love PeopleSoft. The rest of us techies know it is a useless piece of dren.

If the job postings for my university are any indication, this book and a 10 minute Java book will land you an entry-level programmer position like magic. Of course the position will devour your brain in weeks if not days and then goes back on the openings page.
