[CLOSED ASDESIGNED] Mention limit applies to TL3 or Accalia was confused.... AGAIN
-
am i crazy or does the TL1 mention limit apply to PMs?
i was listing all the bots and @mentioning them (which since they weren't invited wouldn't have notified them) and i got that error.
am i imagining that the limit is removed or higher for that as a TL3 or is something weird happening?

so verdict is i'm crazy?
I wouldn't come to that conclusion based on stuff in this topic.
-
i was listing all the bots and @mentioning
Wasn't it possible to mention everybody in a certain group (like bots in this case) with the @ command?
Has that been disabled again? Am I just crazy now?Addendum: Pretty sure the OP said TL1 first :D

That just expands to a listing of all the members. And it's subject to the same limits. I think @PJH has talked about that here and on meta.d. You can discosearch if you're interested.
-
Wasn't it possible to mention everybody in a certain group (like bots in this case) with the @ command?
well yes, but i was annotating who owned them. :-D otherwise i would have linked to the group.
Addendum: Pretty sure the OP said TL1 first
and yes. i am TL3 and i said TL1, in the context of the TL1 mention limit of 10 mentions. I was under the impression that TL3 could mention more than 10 people
ther gramming was a bit broken so.... yeah i can see how that would be confusing
-
You didn't need to @mention them at all, you could just list them without the @ sign.
-
You didn't need to @mention them at all, you could just list them without the @ sign.
i ended up doing that. but then there's no easy link to their profile for seeing how the bots have been played with...
also i didn't expect that i would have trouble with that... hence my confusion.
-
-
That does seem like a rather stupid limit for TL3. I don't suppose CDCK would have made that configurable per TL; that would be too logical.
there's no easy link to their profile
You could manually link the text to their profile.
-
Easy links: http://what.thedailywtf.com/groups/bots/members

ou could manually link the text to their profile.
that sounds suspiciously like work..... :-P

It's two limits: One for TL0, one for everyone else, and unlimited for admins.

it's the same as
On BADREQUEST Resume next
Which is pretty much what should always happen if you take a terrible feature from PHP and request to port it over to anything.
Filed Under: What were you thinking?

In PHP they use @ as a silencer for errors and such.
We should have a silence mention like so
What you're suggesting here is that we emulate PHP?!
Bad ideas thread is

I typed @bots and got @SummonBot

That is actually not true, it is right at least twice for each available timezone a day
Sure, it's wrong if you have blakeygoalposts.PHP is right less than 1 times a day.

Except maybe for the days and timezones where daylight savings switches happen.

This is awesome.

Only the spring change. The fall change could make the clock right 3 times, which would still be correct according to @Monarch's statement.

@@bot
.......@riking, interested in implementing something like that?
Doesn't make sense to me, if you want to mention the bot without mentioning him you can just say bot?
Implementing double @ on the bot side may be an idea though?
-
As has been pointed out by somebody somewhere, this all applies only to "normal" 12-hour clocks; proper 24-hour clocks (or 12-hour clocks that indicate AM/PM) will be right only once per day (time zones, DST edge cases blah blah blah).
None of which is analogous to PHP (you do remember that's what we were talking about, right?), which is (unfortunately) not stopped. It continues to run in its own "special" way, being always wrong.
-
24-hour clocks
that was me! i even linked to one on Amazon
and of course if it's one of those clocks that give the day of the month (or even the month/year) they'll be right even less often when stopped!

It only suppresses errors Discoursistently.

You mention 'three' limits. And the last one there isn't a thing - I'm limited to 10 as well; see screenshots in link above.

Ta.
Might have to make the background transparent. When I can upload emoji again.

It wouldn't bother me. I ignore all that stuff anyway.

You mention 'three' limits
Is unlimited a limit? Does the set of all sets not containing themselves contain itself?
-
-
@riking can you make escaping actually work?

Hmm... I can override the URL that the @mention points to, but I can't make it follow that URL if the @mention is selected...
