My daily WTF about the daily WTF (or forums in general)

  • Hi all,

Seeing as we all like a good moan, here is a thread to get some of those irritations off our chests.  I wouldn't be a member of TDWTF if I didn't think the articles are briliant, but, here are a few of my daily irritations:

    1) First! (though I still chuckle a bit at Fist and derivations)<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>

    2) The goggles zey do nothing (simpsons yes, yes - though that’s died off a bit now)<o:p></o:p>

    3) The real WTF is ...<o:p></o:p>

    4) I could not give one tiny damn what your CAPTCHA was, is or going to be (even if it's relevant)<o:p></o:p>

    5) Grammar / Spell checker police (I really can't spell)<o:p></o:p>

    6) The requirement for sarcasm notation<o:p></o:p>

    7) Those needlessly arrogant posts.  Just make your point; we all know you are very clever.<o:p></o:p>

    8) Yes, the new name, I hate the new name, it's just stupid.  To echo others - every time I open the site I say worse than failure WTF?<o:p></o:p>

So, hey, this is what annoys me - just venting. I am sure others can add plenty more.<o:p></o:p>

    Sincerely

    UnresolvedExternal

    KenW-ishenko-wotsit was rude to me.

  • Here's what I like:

    1) Taking the bad code example and rewriting it "as it should be" into something even worse, especially if you introduce bugs that are not easy to spot.

    2)  If someone else does that, finding the deliberate bug and pointing it out as if you're the only one who could spot it -- and then replacing it with something even worse!

    3)  War stories:  the less relevant, the better.

    4)  My favorite so far:  a post that when I try to read it, it generates an error and closes the browser.

My users cannot remember how to read their email. Seriously.

I had that, then I opened the post if FF and there was no crash...

So I am an elitist FireFox user now...

     Kneel for me!!!! You infidels!!

  • Then there are the people with Physics degrees just making you feel stupid.
