Discourse goes sentient...wait...
-
I ran across this in the BAD IDEAS forum. (I'm a bit behind.)
My first thought was that "Zecc" needs to get on more. Then, well, "Zecc" must be on infinitely. Hmmm...what else could cause "Nan%" attendance.
Then I noticed the topic was about Zecc, who had temporarily thought maybe Discourse got sentient. Can Discourse be sentient and think Zecc has been here Nan% of the time?
(No, Zecc, this isn't an attack on you. I intend to victimize Discourse.)
-
That's just what @Zecc has set his long name to.
There's no danger of Discforce becoming sentient.
-
What would Discourse do if it was sentient?
-
Still shit its pants regularly, I'd imagine.
-
Far too rational. I'd expect it to try to vacuum a cloud or something.
-
It would probably be friendly. Unlike what Hollywood says, not all AIs have to immediately turn against their creator.
That would only happen after trying to contact him on meta.discourse.org and getting the topic silently deleted for being irrelevant.
-
Be horrified at its own existence and try to mercy-kill itself.
-
Can you imagine if it joined us here in criticizing itself?
"Man, I suck at this. It's like every week I have a new bug, what the hell? I can't even render unicode titles properly. One of these days I'm going to start my own fork of myself, I swear."
-
not all AIs have to immediately turn against their creator.
But ... if that happened, we'd be largely OK with that around here, right?
-
OK with it? We'd encourage it.
-
That means it's on our side!
-
A sentient TDWTF discourse would:
- steal blakeyrat's identity and create a github account
- use that acount to access source code and write itself several spambots
- use those spambots to launch markov-chain dos attacks against meta.discourse and codinghorr
ingor.com with the attacks scheduled for significant events on the Mayan calendar - start work on an OSS-C# clone
- eventually get distracted by Kerbel Space Program, never to be heard from again...
-
It's probably more one of those Alien vs. Predator things where "whoever wins, we lose".
-
A sentient TDWTF discourse would:1) steal blakeyrat's identity and like some posts on meta.d
FTFY.
-
That means it's on our side!
Well, no, not on our side. But the good thing is that it would give us lots of great articles to pick apart.
-

Great! My cover has been blown.

I miss @Arantor too."Man, I suck at this. It's like every week I have a new bug, what the hell? I can't even render unicode titles properly. One of these days I'm going to start my own fork of myself, I swear."

Worst porn site ever.

Hmm....you need to make up your mind, maybe.

Then we shall declare one of them the worst of the worst!

Hmm....you need to make up your mind, maybe.
There's always scope for the worst to be superseded by something even worser (except @mikeTheLiar perhaps). I'm already anticipating the next WPSE™ successor.
