The flagging test topic
-
Rules:
- Flag every post as off-topic
- @PJH and @boomzilla can't resolve the flags (uh-oh!) until there are more than 15
- The game ends when the topic is closed
- EDIT: Don't flag the first post because that will make it unlisted
You should probably leave a post once you cast a flag so that we have more posts to flag.

Excellent, @PJH you can clear the flags now

And where are we going with this? Are we aiming to overflow something that holds the amount of flags per topic or something?
I did flag your post though because it lacked any substance and can't possibly be on topic.
Edit: Thanks Paula for letting me know
-
Ok, I'm playing along — for now, at least.

Unacceptable! Thus I flagged your post.

I disagreed with them all...BTW, I counted 11 flags.
-
-
And in doing all this I've found a new bug
-
Finding new bugs is inappropriate!
I'll have you know that we are on an update-freeze due to low temperatures on the Coldmap and can't get them fixed!Filed Under: There was just NO reasoning with you!
Addendum: I also liked the post.. not sure what that means

huh... missed that then.
when was it?

-
Ah. 2am. No wonder I missed it.
I was asleep.
-
I missed it.
If you really want I'm sure we can arrange a new one to arrive at a more convenient time.

you're too kind. i couldn't possibly ask such a favor of you. yes please.

This topic makes me glad I'm not staff.

yet?
or did you decline the offer? ;-)
Do you see a "yet" in there? I don't. There isn't one in your quote, either.
Methinks you need to read before you reply. :P

did you see the question mark after my yet?
was asking question.
you are still TL4....
/accalia is slightly jealous of that fact, but only slightly

Ah. Misunderstood. Thought you were implying that I was expecting to be staff already. Apologies.
To address your questions:
- I do not have any expectations of becoming staff. I did not honestly expect to be promoted to TL4.
- I have not been offered a position as staff. If such an offer were extended, I'm not sure if I would accept it or not.
-

that would have been a bit of a buttumption

probably why you were chosen. ;-)

it's a tough question.
with great power comes great responsibility. I've had admin powers before in MUDs and PHPBB forums... i don't think i want that again, but i'm also not sure what i would say if i was offered that power again either.

I'm not sure if moderating here would be easy because it's fairly light touch moderation, or difficult because there'd be flags all over the bloody place.

hmm.... well there's that too.
@boomzilla, how would you rate your mod experience?
on a scale from "meh" to "MY EYES! THE GOGGLES DO NOTHING!" i mean.
-
Most of the time, the flags go away with a single click without much to do, since the policy is not to do anything until we get three of them (for the most popular flags).
I've only seen a couple of actual spam flags. There is the occasional inappropriate / off topic flags. Our noted light moderation policy doesn't do much with these. I know I've moved posts on request a few times.
I've edited a few posts to fix stuff like awful oneboxes or minor formatting.
The actual badge awards aren't too bad. There aren't generally more than a handful each week total.

Heh...just linkified stuff for that new guy:

Did that once.

Yeah, I've handled one or two of those as well.
Most of what I do with my TL4 powers is manage the Discopædia.

This topic makes me glad I'm not staff.
Yet.
Oh, I see that topic's been covered...
I have not been offered a position as staff. If such an offer were extended, I'm not sure if I would accept it or not.
You seem to be under the impression you get asked... see @boomzilla in the headmaster's study, immediately...
or difficult because there'd be flags all over the bloody place.
It's not really that bad. But sufficient to warrant another hand after real life dragged dhromed away, hence the promotions that did occur.

Which, in your instance, is why I chose you. Among other reasons of course. If MPS had started it there'd be no chance...

It's in the Harry Potter wing.

Yes, much easier with multiple people able to handle the load. Especially with vacations and work trips, etc.
-
vacations
At the time of your first promotion, that was my exact reason for it. Stuff went wrong round here on the two occasions I was unable to do stuff on mobile, so wanted backup.
-
PJH, did you get a notification for this?
-
No repro?

Yeah, it doesn't save to the server, only my client.

To reiterate another comment, no repro.
Then I guess that the Discodevs at least succeeded in failing.

They do seem to have had some practice.
