The importance of thinking with acronyms
-
Got an email in my inbox this morning:
From: Marketdroid Alpha
To: All Staff Worldwide
Subject: Announcing new employee engagement programBlah blah blah new program
Blah Blah named: Community Contribution Collaboration Program*
blah blah blah
So i sent this reply:
From: Accalia
To: Marketdroid Alpha
Subject: RE: Announcing new employee engagement programYou do realize what that acronym would be, right?
not two minutes later:
From: Marketdroid Alpha
To: All Staff Worldwide
Subject: RE: Announcing soon to be renamed employee engagement programYeah, we're going to have to rename that program. We'll send out a mail shortly with a better thought out name.
Until then please keep in mind that the program and its participation incentives are still active
* - Not actually the name of the program, but the acronym would be the same...
-
And they probably didn't misspell "collaboration" ...
-
Until then please keep in mind that the program and its participation incentives are
still activemandatory, comrade...FTFY
-
And they probably didn't misspell "collaboration" ...
fixed, they would have had a hard time misspelling it, as previously noted that's not the name of the program (i changed all four words) but they did spell them right so i should too.

"For more information, consult the Pravda..."
-
Technically, CCCP (Roman letters) only looks like СССР (Cyrillic letters equivalent to SSSR).
-
yes, but how much weight do you expect that to hold with SJWs?
-
not two minutes later:
Can you send M.A. a box of cookies or something from me?
That's actually a really stand-up response!
Most un-expected.
-
Can you send M.A. a box of cookies or something from me?
hmm... i'll think about it. ;-)
Most un-expected.
around these parts (this company) that's pretty par for the course actually.
-
That they name programs "CCCP", or that they can say "Oops" without going through a long series of approvals, backtracking and blame shifiting?
-
the second one.
the first one.... well only by accident and no one actually writing it down in acronym form yet.
-
Fortunate, you are.
-
"For more information, consult the Pravda..."
There is no pravda in Izvestia, and no izvestia in Pravda.
-
-
News.
-
"Izvestia" ("Известия", really) means "News", and it has been a major Russian newspaper since 1917.
"Pravda" ("Правда") means "Truth", and it was the official newspaper of The Party from 1912 to 1991.
Since both publications had spin levels somewhere between "Fox" and "Weekly World News", it was a common Russian joke before the fall of the USSR that "There is no truth in 'The News' and no news in 'The Truth'". It's a little bit funnier in Russian, and a lot funnier after a litre or so of vodka.

-
Besides, CCCP is already the Combined Community Codec Pack. And yes, they play up the similarity to СССР.
-
thedailywtf.comm is that way
-
In Soviet Russia, misleading acronym devises you.
-
-
You mean thedailywtf.su?
-
yes, but how much weight do you expect that to hold with SJWs?
I'd think they'd like the acronym.
-
-
because i was sure they'd hate this guy
They're full of contradictions. Also, they didn't know him when he was part of the USSR. They think a lot of horrible things are actually good, so you can't rely on their judgment.

-
-
That's very culturist of you.
what? thinking that that shade of pink does absolutely nothing for his skin tone?
he should have gone a bit more earthy to draw out his natural highlights ant picking either yellow or blue for the eye shadow would have allowed for an even better match and overall more aesthetically pleasing look.
-
what? thinking that that shade of pink does absolutely nothing for his skin tone?
Of course. Different cultures have different standards of beauty. Not that I care if you want to be all culturally imperialistic.
-
Of course. Different cultures have different standards of beauty
hmm... a valid point i guess....
-
-
-
-
hmm? trolling me?
dang, i must need to replace the batteries in my troll-o-meter or something. i thought you were just having fun!

Also, the W isn't being anally probed in the Inedo version.
