Yo I don't mean to bother anyone but this is still happening.
-
Is this from the comments preview page? If so, that just builds a stronger argument to get rid of that (beyond worthless) page.

I've never understood the logic of a comments preview page. The old manually curated "featured comments" made some sense. But WTF is this bullshit‽
@VinDuv 2014-12-02 08:06 What kind of syntax highlighter puts this in bold but not class?

i think it works off the same logic as the summarize topic button in discourse.... it just takes the N most liked posts
a WTF, but an understandablish one.

Right, but I didn't mean the logic behind the posts. That's simple enough. I was wondering about the logic used by the sites' designers to come to the conclusion that it was a good thing to do.

hmm... i think you'd have to ask atwood and co, because i'm pretty sure we just copied their design decision.

@woody puts his comment section right below the article and not on a separate page:
No idea how it's logic'd, though.

i was referencing the logic more than the layout (i'd rather the comments on the same page myself too)

That would be the only justification I could think of for any comment preview feature. Otherwise, you're already clicking over to a new page, so why not just go directly to the full comment thread?

My assumption is that someone is pleased with their cleverness at parsing out "interesting" comments from a discotopic.
