  • Reuters reports (and I found it on Slashdot of course) that South Korea will start sending notices of indictment via SMS in 2006.

    Uhm...

How do you manage to pull that off in 160 characters or less? What were they smoking when they came up with this?!

You actually have to sign up for this "service" for it to happen to you. Who would sign up for something like that if they didn't expect to be indicted. Who, expecting an indictment, would want it delivered via SMS?

Well this is actually very easy. There are two scenarios. that I can see:

Scenario One ... multiple messages ...

    • Message 001 of 008. Attention Kim lo Fet: Purant to Korean Revised Code (KRC) S228.1.0 and in reference to incident number #8009235, a grand jury has reached -
    • Message 002 of 008. - a decision on your pending inditment. In the matter of the first charge (KRC.119.223), assault with a deadly weapon, the grand jury has -
    • Message 003 of 008. - ruled that you will not be indited. In the matter of the second charge (KRC.338.243), conspiracy to commit assault with a deadly weapon,-
    • Message 004 of 008. - the grand jury has ruled that ...

    Senario Two ... abbreviations ...

  • I can just see version 2.0, the indictment automated phone call.  You answer your cell phone and a nice lady says, "You've got indictments!"

    shudder
    -FM

  • version 3:

"You have been indicted. Call 900-123456 ($1pm)"

  • Of course, the real answer is that they're almost certainly going to be
sending links to a WAP page the phone can retreive.  "You have been
    Indicted.  Click here."

    "where is my mouse"

  • i dont know about yee guys but in Ireland almost we're not restricted to the number of char we can use in a text message. The phones automatically break it into multiple messages and are fixed as one on the recieving end. Plus there's always picture messages.

It can get a little annoying at times when you recieve the borken message out of order, some fones put it together in the wrong order. doh.
