Wanna roll the dice?

asked me (in Dutch) to 'select one of the following options: (o) Option 1 (o) Option 2'. Uhm, yeah. Tough choice here.

I selected Option 1, hoping and praying it wasn't trying to ask if it could install a free browser extension that displays the best offers on the Web (or restart my computer, for that matter), and the installation completed successfully. I still don't know what Option 1 actually did, what Option 2 would have done, and whether I picked the right one after all. As far as I can see, the program seems to work...

    * I know, jpg is a bad format for dialogs. When you have ME and are constantly sitting at 20-30% free system resources and 100% memory usage, you're reluctant to fire up Photoshop unless you're going to cure cancer with it.

  • If you know enough tricks about how to reverse engineer MSIs (Microsoft Installers) then you can actually open the file up in an MSI editor such as Orca and trace through the relations to find what that option actually does.

  • Well, I just tried their installer, but I can't get the MSI information out of it.  Maybe it's not a true MSI.  Something for me to keep playing with in between compiles :)

  • Just open the MSI with MS Access.   Same thing.

The real WTF is that originally, I thought the WTF was that the text was in Dutch.

This is the same limited anglocentric mindset that led to having "Brought to you by" in English on the logo.

Most likely the installer was only partially translated, and these are the stubs for the translation.

  • The Real WTF is that you're using WinME, right?

I commend you for acknowledging this. In the future, you should use a lightweight program like IrfanView (just search for it, it's not hard to find), into which you can paste your capture and then save it as PNG.

  • Hell, MS Paint works fine for this.

I once watched an Indian movie for a film class and every once in while, some of the dialogue would be in English.  Crazy foreigners.

The Real WTF is that you did not select the "X" in the upper right corner and installed PDFCreator afterwards.

  • I'm surprised nobody's commented yet on how this installer's logo appears to be a person walking into the genitalia of a woman.

Or maybe I should be disappointed that I was the first one to think that...
