The emperor has no clothes!

  • Speaking as a long suffering user not a techy COUNT ME IN.  The very huge company I work for is installing Oracle 11. I have been an accountant for over 30 years and this is the biggest piece of software garbage every created.  What kind of accounting  software needs to have an EXCEL SPREADSHEET CREATED and then imported into it  in order to get the numbers right????????  The software must have been designed in India and unfortunately the grammar and logic have not been Americanized.  The 10 Eastern Indian "instructors" we have running around can barely speak English and take offense to any questioning or critisism of the way this overly complicated, backwards thinking garbage "works". As we add further modules the situation just gets worse.  Cut your losses and throw the garbage out!

  • First, I would have thought that an accountant of 30 years would actually understand concepts such as sentances and paragraphs, so I would sort that out if I was you.

Second, I assume your company installed Oracle eBusiness Suite 11i? Which is a load of crap and always has been, the real wtf is your company for buying it. If you are installing the 11G database, then the create spreadsheet stuff is just some kind of horrid WTF your company created as 11G is just a database and does not demand that you act like idiots.

Sounds like eBS = your company fail.

So wait a minute.... you sign up here and your first post is to ridicule someone?

    Good WTF.

  • I worked with Oracle Apps 11i for about a year working on the back-end stuff (trying to figure out what oracle was doing and monitor it) and I assure you it is the most horrible POS ever written.

What I love about Oracle Apps is that EVERYTHING is in the database, even things that should never even approach the database.

One component we wrote which was an experimental component required us to export data into excel format, feed it to oracle, which would display some munged data to the oracle apps user in Microsoft Excel format. So no its not the OP's company thats doing something dumb.

    Hi,

I've worked with Applications for fourteen years. Exclusively customizations. Specifically what should never approach the database?  Packages?

  • "sentances"?   What ever the grammar, whatever the spelling, it's Oracle 11i and it's still garbage
