Come on now, *Markdown isn't that hard* You have to escape both of the inner asterisks.
Edit: I say that and then I get a formatting Discobug. Literally WTF how hard can it be to make Markdown work correctly @discoursebot

Markdown is a literal WTF. I can never get it to do what I want on the first try, and that even includes the formatting buttons in the editor!

It actually does the italics correctly, unlike reddit, which I swear worked, but then it CHOPS OFF THE REST OF THE LINE

I had no idea what the bug was until you said this. I added the raw to point out that stuff isn't rendering.

It works fine on reddit because reddit isn't trying to support 3 different markup schemes at the same time. Seriously guys, JUST PICK ONE.

Actually I just tried it on reddit and it doesn't escape the asterisks properly.
