I don't think the H2G2 quotes are an absolute requirement. I just wanted to point out that intermittent problems have been the norm since we moved to this platform.

It's only visible when you're at the top of a topic or the topic page. Scroll down, and it hides. Irritation gone!

It appears when loading a topic and flashes away before you can fully see it if the post you're loading into isn't the OP. I find that really annoying.

Also, when on the topic page, I'm used to where the tabs are, and now they're further down.

I mostly don't like it because it seems to be there regardless of whether or not the site is actually having problems. It doesn't seem to indicate anything other than that the forum you're looking at is still Discourse running on the (sometimes flaky) TDWTF server.

I've tried to keep my H2G2 quoting instincts to a minimum.

I thought it was for the 504 problems that the site sometimes has, of which I didn't notice any during the time that it was up.

There were other weird things reported, plus the normal site update was stuck.

As pointed out above there were backend problems which were unusual and I couldnt fix and I noticed problem reports which I personally attributed that.
Hence the message.

I don't like the warning because it is redundant. An intermittent problem is a problem that you may or may not experience. The warning is saying that "the site may be experiencing problems that it may or may not be experiencing". It would be less redundant to say that "the site is experiencing intermittent problems".

I had something thrown at me once and it hit me in the groin. I exclaimed something like "Oh my ball hurts!" Everyone latched onto the singular form of "ball" and once I recovered I had to explain yes I have two of them, but only one was hit by the projectile, hence "My ball hurts" and not "my balls hurt".
