The New IT Guy.

  • My favorite lines:

"theres not much code since its all done online"

"no der is not FTP setup for the database"

    Enjoy: http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php/topic,123774.0.html

  • These kinds of posts make me feel sorry for the kind, knowledgeable people who spend their time trying to make the idiot provide the correct information, only to have him disregard all further questions or suggestions anyway.

It's also the reason I don't usually help people on forums myself...

  • NEED HELP VERY URGENT PLS RESPOND

My database responds slow compared to last week.  What to look for, pls.  Also, what is Primary Key called like in Access AutoNumber?

Man, I feel the pain out there sometimes.

  • It's more common from the client:

(Regarding a bespoke site admin suite) "The <insert name> admin isn't working"

normally when it has been "working" fine for several months and someone (new) does something stupid. Needless to say, they won't tell you without you applying thumbscrews just what they were doing before the app coughed and died, like attempting to upload JPEGs in CMYK format and expecting them to display in IE...

You mean you don't have a subtractive color monitor yet? You're living in the PAST man.

  • Obviously our tongue-lashing punishments aren't having enough effect on these people.  We need to increase the penalties!

I propose that for every question not giving details, we force them to write an application using the C++ STL without the API documentation.  If they don't take heed of suggestions, make them write code for a day using only a text-mode terminal over a laggy connection with a non-functioning backspace key.

Let them feel our frustration and see how quickly they come around!

Having a subtractive color monitor is really living in the past. Well, they were actually not color at all, but monochrome. And they were not really monitors either, but rather a printer...
