FAQ or Rules for the Site/Forums

  • Hello. I am a new user to these forums and I wanted to know the general rules and guidelines for this place. Obviously good netiquette and appropriate posts are a must, but what else? Are there any FAQ or Rules or Getting Started pages? (I cannot seem to find them).

Also, how does one post a good WTF story? I have a few I have been preparing, since this place seems to appreciate such narratives. Thanks

  • idem about the faq

btw: tags are comma-separated (I made the same mistake)

  • There are no unexpected rules; it's obvious that we don't want spam, flamewars, "first post" etc. here.

To submit a WTF story, use the "Contact/Submit" link in the navigation sidebar on the front page.

  • Thanks, I think a faq is worth just to say that you've said, and by example to let you know that tags are comma separated (just an opinion).

Now I would like to know whose are the forum moderators because I wanted to fix that comma-tag mistake I've made but couldn't find anybody to ask for and with respect to the private messages, where do they go? I haven't seen an 'inbox' is it that they go directly to the mail? and in that case what happens with users who have opted to not get mails from here?

    Thanks again.

There are a few forum moderators, I'm one of them. I've fixed that comma-tag mistake for you.

There are a few forum moderators, I'm one of them.

How can I be assured that my posts won't be summarily yanked off due to a moderator's personal bias?

Sometimes I feel like I'm the object of everyone's animosity and I want to rectify that.

I just want to go back to being a simple poster again.

Lately, it seems whenever I post, people attack me and if I have a point it's usually CPound versus everybody else.

It's like there's the CPound camp and then TheDailyWTF camp. I feel very...excluded.

How can I be accepted here?

Dont't write posts that look like you are attacking someone on a very personal, insulting level. Not everybody shares your fine sense of humor.

Remember that in a forum with an international audience, some people will take your posts more seriously than you might expect, due to national or cultural differences..

Sometimes it looks like you are trying to provoke as many as possible, like an angry teenager.

By behaving like an adult ;-)
