TigerDirect Catalogs

  • Our company provides total solutions to clients. This includes all sorts of hardware along with the software we write. Well, one of our suppliers is TigerDirect. Unfortunately, they do not provide a way to identify an order (usually a PO number provided by us). So, the guy who does the purchasing figured he'd just change the purchaser name to be that of our client. That way he can find the matching PO. This works fine with most suppliers, but for TigerDirect, it obviously means a new client entry in their system. So, every single order our guy has placed has resulted in a new entry in TigerDirect. It has culminated in this.. a stack of 19 of the same exact catalog mailing. If they keep this up, we'll be able to have a bonfire just with their mailings.

    19 TigerDirect Catalogs

  • Not a problem at all!  Look at how fast Tiger Direct is growing, judging by their client list.  In the next annual report they will brag about being the fastest-growing supplier in the world.

  • You know those 'Report Abuse' links in this forum? I was just thinking, this is a great abuse of the TigerDirect customer list....

ehh....man I wish today were Friday!

  • Nice.  Bonus points for using a wooden table in the photo.

  • I figured someone would mention the wood. LOL. It's a buffet cabinet
that holds mailing supplies, the receiving log, a mailbox and a lamp.

  • Lack of purchase order option happens because they sell mostly to end customers only.  Either that, or they rarely get repeat business customers.

I know there's at least one web site for every company dedicated to showing how bad they are, but the one that shows the hate for TD maybe justified.

That may be so, but they could at least edit the existing entry for our address and change the name instead of creating a new client entry for every single purchase we make. Editing the existing entry is what most of the other suppliers do. Our purchaser has even explained to all suppliers why he does it this way. I guess TigerDirect can't change someone's name after the fact.. who knows.

We mostly use Global and only use TD when Global doesn't have something. That's why there's only 19 "clients" in the stack.

Don't get me wrong.  I'm of the opinion that any business that deals with b2b even occassionally should still allow for purchase order numbers.  Heck, there should be at least a place for an ATTN: AbbydonKrafts, which is where a PO number could fit.

TD just doesn't bother, either because they don't know or they don't care.  Personally, I think it's because they don't care.  It shows in lots of other ways too.

  • btw, I recommend newegg over TD.  (I have no affiliation with either of them)

The lighty kind or the server kind? Cuz a buffet cabinet running LAMP would be kinda neat.
