Everyone Loves eBay

  • So... I get directed to view an auction on eBay by a friend and head over to ebay.com to check it out. What shows up on the homepage but one of those annoying floating div "popups". Nothing too wrong with that... it's their site, they can spam visitors if they want to. But... the content of that popup. Oh, the content...

I don't have the means to post a screen cap of the popup, but here's the text-ified content (I added the bold/italics for emphasis):

    Been to eBay undefined?
Where do you want to go?
    ( ) eBay undefined
    ( ) eBay US

[ ] Always automatically direct me to the selected eBay site.

I guess they just can't conceive of someone who choses to not store their tracking cookies and does not have an eBay account. Pity those poor foreigners (ie: me) outside the U.S.... I wonder what the TLD for the great nation of 'undefined' is? .ud? .uf?

  • Everybody has the means to create a screenshot. Just host it on photobucket or imageshack.

  • Net's been wonky here today, and couldn't reach any sharing sites, and now suddenly it works. Bleah...

in any case, here's the screen cap:

  • So what would happen if you selected "eBay undefined" and clicked continue?

  • Eyahh! The real WTF here is your firefox theme. Get a new one, please, unless this is your 4 year old sons' computer! :-)

  • Well, my son's 4 months old now... but in any case, I kinda like the Noia theme for some reason. It is sugar coated toothrottingly sweet, but hey...

How can anyone hate Noia. ;_; The other options are all: 2K default, XP default, Vista default, Aqua default, Gnome default, KDE default, ugly, ulgier, and lots of ugliest. It's had to find good skins, for any skinnable program; it's too bad most will then refuse to integrate into your desktop theme, even on defaults.

Admittedly, the home icon looks as if it should be bouncing in a merry melodies short. ;)
