TDWTF NWTFJ WTF

  • I bet Alex doesn't like it when we make fun of the sponsors, but this made me giggle:

"We offer a dynamic work environment that creates an abundance of opportunities for motivated individuals, a great benefits package, unlimited chocolate and a fun, healthy environment."

  • Now I'd really like to smell chocolate farts. I've got used to coffee and soda farts.

  • They can't mean that.  I hate it when people exaggerate in postings like that, I know it's funny, but there's no chance it is truly "unlimited", so why not just say "lots of chocolate"?

  • I understand that it is common for chocolate producers to allow their production staff to eat as much as they wish, provided that they don't take any home, mainly because it's too hard to stop them. Maybe that also applies to IT staff, even if it would be harder for them to exercise the privilege.

  • For that matter

I thought that this was for non-wtf jobs. Isn't the Diebold election system and everything connected to it a WTF by default?

They probably mean "finite but unbounded."  You know, like the tape in a Turing machine, or the number of states in a theoretical finite-state machine.

On the other hand, perhaps they mean "unlimited" in the sense that you are allowed to take as much as you want, if there's any left.  Too bad there's none left.  But if we ever get any more, you can eat all you want.  Until it's gone again.

  • Perhaps they mean unlimited in the same way that T-mobile UK mean unlimited.

Their mobile data tariff has three levels of *Unlimited* internet access.

Standard - unlimited data (1GB cap)

Plus - unlimited data (3GB cap)

Max - unlimited data (10GB cap)

This is also par for the course of DSL/cable connections too.

Following this line of thought... standard employees can have all the unlimited chocolate that they want (as long as they only have 50g/day), managers also have an unlimited chocolate allowance (max of 4 bars) and CxOs can also have unlimited chocolate (up to 50 bars).
