Supposedly Non-WTF jobs in the sidebar

The headline "Tired of the commute?" caught my attention. Hmm, a telecommuting-friendly company, asks I. I click on the link to read the ad. Jobsite in Corona, CA and local candidates only.
Why do they advertise on nationwide websites for a local-only job? And on top of that they make it sound like they'll either pay for relocation or let you telecommute. Personally, I'd call that a WTF Job...

I don't think that's an unreasonable request. Surely, even the most "telecommuting-friendly" company would want you in the office at least once a week for meetings?
The important thing is that they were honest. You found out right away, as opposed to after an interview, etc ....
As far as the "local ad" on "international site" -- that's a limitation of the ad serving software. The ad serving software tries to show you local ads.

... which is why as I'm writing this, the two ads present are in Brighton, UK and Frankfurt, Germany.
I appreciate what you're trying to do, but I think the ad-serving software needs a little work ;)

The IP you posted from says you're in Canada. Is that accurate?
US/CDN people should be seeing US/CDN ads. So this could be a simple bug (this is hard to test, btw!)

Yup - I'm in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The job bar is currently offering me jobs in Berlin and Manchester.

I'm currently seeing jobs in Tokyo, Brighton, Frankfurt, and all sorts of other places (I'm in New Zealand). I really don't want to relocate to a new country for a job.

That's up there with the job in Portland, OR that wants "5-7 years of C#/ASP.NET." Neat trick, considering C# didn't launch until 2002. I can just see the interview:
"Sorry, you don't meet our requirements. We require 5-7 years of C#/ASP.NET experience."
"Oh, sorry, here I'll hop into my time machine, go back to 2002, and re-live the last 4 years so I can get the experience you want."
"..."
"OK, I'm back. Here let me fix that resume..."

This is just a "WTF" in the way hiring processes work:
- Developer (best knowledge) says "We Another Sr. Dev" to Manager
- Manager (limited knowledge) agrees, tells HR to find a "Senior Dev with ASP/C# Experience"
- HR (no knowledge) crafts a job posting

Maybe they want someone like me who worked at MS on .NET pre-release...
