Quoting (Again Again!)
-
Repro:
- Highlight User 'A' post in post 1 as if you were going to do a quote reply
- Shift+click+drag highlight text from User 'B' post in post 2 as if you were going to quote reply
- Go back up to User 'A' post and see 'Quote Reply' is still there
- Click 'Quote Reply'
Secondary Bug: Reply as new topic doesn't automatically select the current category that you're in like 'Create Topic' does.
@ChaosTheEternal - I finally figured out the repro on that one!
-
I'll be User B this time.
-
You don't have to involve a second post, the effort of Shift+Click+Drag by itself interrupts their catching of "what was highlighted" for the quote reply button.
But involving a second post does make it easier to know how the "quote reply" works.
I was thinking Ctrl wasn't even needed to repro, but I didn't bother to check.
-
No repro, or I'm not understanding the directions.
-
Easier repro:
- Highlight text
- Click and hold shift, then click+drag (while holding shift)* over another post
Quote reply doesn't go away.
- Click + Drag is very important. JUST click makes quote reply go away.

-
See * addendum.
-
Still can't repro.

Looks like different browsers handle it differently. Chrome does the drag effect but IE(10) and FF(31) don't.
Repro for those is to release the drag over the "Quote Reply" button, then release Shift.
To note, this is pretty edge-case stuff.

Holding ctrl and/or shift while something is highlighted and then trying to drag in chrome causes a new area to highlight and then tries to drag-n-drop what you've got highlighted. The quote reply button stays up though. I could not care less myself, because it sounds like you were trying to multi-select different pieces to quote simultaneously, which doesn't work anyway so it's irrelevant how it's broken.
For what it's worth, highlighting something and then doing shift+kbd arrows to expand the selection and then clicking quote reply works fine (provided you stayed inside a single post obviously)
