Banking WTF

  • So a person in Ireland writes a check to a person in America.  Two months later it's still not deposited.  The bank in ireland, let's say IreFoo, and the bank in the USA let's say BarBank cannot seem to get their wires straight.

BarBank tells IreFoo to desposit funds into account A

IreFoo desposits funds into Account A

BarBank cannot see funds in Account A

IreFoo pulls money out of Account A

BarBank tells Irefoo to desposit funds into Account B

IreFoo desposits funds into Account B

BarBank cannot see funds in Account B

IreFoo pulls money out of Account B

and so on, and so forth... rinse, repeat

    shoot the banks for incompetance.

  • The real WTF is checks. Stupid archaic little buggers. I worked at a bank for over a year and a half inputing the numbers on those horrid things. Do you know what it's like to sit still, inputing numbers hour after hour after hour? I hate checks.

    I sense some animosity.

Yeah, but if there had been no cheques, you wouldn't have had that job, you'd have likely had another, even worse and lower paid job, like McDonald's or something.

I should start a campaign to "Protect the cheque"

Throw your wooden shoes into any machine that electronically processes monetary transactions!  Go for the cooling fans!!!

Cheque?  What is this "cheque" that you want to defend?  If you mean "Protect the Czech", they have not been particularly brutalized in very recent history that I can recall.

However, "Protect the Check", now you're talking real English!

(Forgive the lame humor, I've been absolutely exhausted the last few days)

Waitaminute... American English is real English? Surely real English'd be the one used in, oh, I dunno, England?

[/quote]You're lucky this wasn't an eBay transaction because both of you would be behind bars for fraud before the ink dried on that bad cheque.  They seem to have taken on a guilty until innocent attitude.

And it makes me sad that this actually put a smile on my face.

bad check? wtfh are you talking about ... i assume your joking

Update: I liberally applied boot to bank's ass yesterday... IreFoo was taking a 10 Euro currency conversion fee out and depositing into BarBank's Bank of Ireland account in USD not Euros, so BarBank completely overlooked the transaction as IreFoo didn't attach the ref #.   Money was credited to my fiancee's account this morning.
