Dear Google, fix this bug.

"Dear Google,
I have found a bug in your Google Maps service. A big one indeed.
In fact, I worry for my life, that it might come and eat me.
So please, won't you fix this bug in a hurry? I'm sure you can ask
the German military to aid you in the struggle against this bug.
The bug in question can be sighted here, in all it's scary godzilla-like
mean self: http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&q=Germany&ie=UTF8&om=1&z=18&ll=48.857593,10.205188&spn=0.002622,0.007349&t=k
Yours truly."

Now THAT is what I call a bug! Pretty funny !
-
Ew.
I notice that you can zoom out five times and still see it.
-
I just found another one over France... and it appears they have surrendered to it. ;)

slashdot reported yesterday: "A moderator at a Keyhole forum IDs the bug as a thrip, about 1mm long, squished under a glass plate during scanning."
Didn't mean to ruin the fun :(

So does that mean that google took satellite images that are digitally transmitted to earth, printed them out, put them on a table, and took a picture?

Most of the hires images are images taken from airplanes, not sats. also most of the images (also some of the older sat images) are made on formats like 240mm films, which would equal to digital images of 72 000 Megapixels...

Oh man, where are godzilla and mothra when we really need them?

Someone pointed out to me that this was an old story...
There are others, it seems -- I don't have the time to find all the links but Google these (how appropriate) if you're interested:
A Stealth Bomber
A Floating Car
Nude Sunbathers on a roof (this one has been removed! Here's where it used to be.)
