The MSDN Vista Pro-Audio Application Development Forum

  • Judging from the title and every other thread on the forum, this is a forum about developing... audio applications... for Vista. This message was apparently lost on at least one person. Can you say, 'hopelessly out of his league'?

  • And none of those losers would help him out you'd think that they would take pity on the newbie this type of elitism is what is driving people back to windows... um, wait....

  • The real wtf is that Vista's commitment to insane levels of rights management prompted them to eliminate hardware audio acceleration via DirectX, prompting the very existence of such a forum for the ppl left bewildered and wondering how to leverage openAL or whatever else they have to use now.

Not that openAL isn't a wonderful thing...  I'm just sayin'.

  • Well, you'd think a forum of pro-audio developers would be able to help him restore his audio rather quickly, provided he can follow basic steps.

One might think so, but look at some of the other threads on that forum if you want to be cured of any optimism about the intelligence of developers, or at least the ones on MSDN. I particularly liked this one:

I can't decide which posts are funnier: the "rah rah IE" posts from obvious Microsoft employees or the posts from people who, ah, have some difficulty in communicating ideas. I wonder whether these are foreign developers who have all gathered on the English-language version of MSDN for some reason, and thus have some excuse for not communicating well in English, or whether they are English speakers who really sound like that in everyday life. The latter idea really appeals to me for some reason. (When things get bad, just remember: "All may have different answer and majority want Firefox its because it wont windows validation as IE requires. Yes all should have original version only.. But some peoples lack it so the move on to firefox." And then life will seem so much better.)

Am I the only one who thinks this looks a lot like Google Translate?

I'm starting to think that automatic translation sometimes does more harm than good

He's right. The majority of Linux users want Firefox its because it wont windows validation.

  • "In this day in age, an internet browser without a popup blocker is like having a broadband connection without a fireball."

yeah .. my router came with Street Fighter II in it

  • oh man, how did i end up here. lol.

  • There is no reason not to help him out!?

They could help him... but then they'd have to kill him.

Ahh, a forum full of willing and able developers.  Well, one out of two's not bad.

Yeh, but then he'll just follow them home and their moms will tell them they can't keep him ...

Well, that leaves one obvious explanation of why they weren't able to help him....

Man, I hate it when people make useless posts on a forum like they are in a chat room.

"Hi So I accidentally deleted my sound device. :)
    "
"How do I retrieve it or get a new? Someone help lol."

Wow, so much information for somebody to help him with. And since it's not real-time like a chat room, I doubt people will want to sit there for hours extracting information out of him line by line in a succession of monosyballic sms-speak posts.

Another pet peeve is someone who lols at the end of every sentence. Wtf is there to 'lol' about. Does he lol at everything?

"Yeah, I crashed my dad's car lol"

"Uncle Bill fiddled with me when I was a kid lol"

    uh huh....

I've given up on viewing MS pages with FFX.

    IEtab ftw.

    Hear, hear.

Uses of the IE rendering engine (which I now use IETab for):

     - MCP Member Site, which won't properly log in for me with Firefox

     - Any streaming Windows Media, because the Firefox plugin, while nice that it even exists, is still pretty fricking broken

  • Hey Quinnum, aym? lol.
