A topic about badges

The post count badges shouldn't use xor. I suggest using unicode superscripts, like so:
- 2⁰
- 2¹
- 2²
- 2³
- 2⁴
- 2⁵
- 2⁶
- 2⁷
- 2⁸
- 2⁹
- 2¹⁰
and so on
-
Other options:
2 ** n
1 << n
pow(2, n)
-
unicode
Given the fact that even some regulars on this forum are adverse to sorting out unicode on their systems, what chance to newcomers have?
Besides, people are already referring to them as 2^n badges which is easier to type for most.

Can we have a Graham's Number badge? I want @Arantor to have a challenge.
-
Shouldn't I at least have Googol, Googolplex and Ackermann as interim badges..?
-
Definitely. I think @Arantor could probably reach a Googol if he focused.

Maybe g64/2, so there is an intermediate step right in the middle.

What about Discourse?

What about Discourse?
Unlikely.
=# \d+ restore.posts Table "restore.posts" Column | Type | Modifiers | Storage | Description -------------+---------+------------------------------------------------------------+----------+------------- id | integer | not null default nextval('restore.posts_id_seq'::regclass) | plain | user_id | integer | | plain | topic_id | integer | not null | plain | post_number | integer | not null | plain | raw | text | not null | extended | cooked | text | not null | extended | [...]

Unlikely.
I don't know what you're talking about. Graham's number is an integer, so will clearly fit in an integer column.

Ackermann
That sounds like its own group of badges. But we also need an Avogadro badge. Whose icon shoud be if there were any justice in the world.
-
refering to them as 2n
2n
isn't that bad, if users don't feel like unicode.
so... in inline code tags
2n
the html elements work as html, but block code doesn't? seriously, how is it even possible after 4000 posts that every post is still a new find?
2n
Well slow down there; I think Unicode superscripts can wait, at least until someone teaches Discourse the order that numbers are supposed to go in:
-
Well... I happen to know that at That Other Forum, I have 61k posts, and I am currently the only person in my post count group (which is "____ Legend") and I know there is another post count group that I'm clearly going to be the first person into if I can be bothered (which, sadly is merely "____ Megaposter" which is far less interesting than being a Legend, at a price of 75k posts and more of my soul)
I guarantee that someone will join me in Legend there before I make it to Megaposter.
Where I'm going with this is that I can make a ridiculous number of posts but we're still talking 16 bit uint sizes.

You're already 6.1x10-98% of the way there on the other forum. I'm sure you can do it.
-
I can but I'm not sure I want to. The gift that keeps on giving is running out of happy juice to keep on giving.

@algorythmics will like your new pet name for him.

*laughs*
That wasn't quite what I had in mind, but we'll run with that.

RAPE CULTURE <or something>

The misandry thread is over there .
-
I want my i post count badge. But I'll let someone who's more mathematically intelligenter than me figure it out.
-
HTML won't render as expected/intended in quite a few places.
Title for example - look at mine - that used to render as XSS Award until it got 'fixed' as... an XSS problem (where all that started actually...)
-
2ⁿ badges
This post contains no HTML.
-
Everyone loves Unicode.
Except MySQL.

Seconded!
