So in the more private boards on SMF, someone was proposing an alternative CAPTCHA for preventing spam. Never mind that anti-spam Q&A has been the recommended solution for years. Never mind that a touch-first CAPTCHA with gesture tracing is going to be hella unreliable, of course.
But the person that started the topic was all for 'I hate those letter based CAPTCHAs', so I pointed out an add-on that I'd written that tried to emphasise human-readable whilst trying to defeat some of the more typical techniques of the bots - but compared to Q&A it's still inferior, it's just better than the stock SMF one.
Then she asks for pictures. The listing for the add-on has pictures.
Then she asks if it's written by me, which is the WTF. If you see a thing entitled "Arantor CAPTCHA", do you think Arantor might have written it?

I'd actually prefer people not make assumptions and ask. Maybe it was made FOR Arantor by someone else. Maybe two people use the username "Arantor". Who knows? But assumptions suck.

No, no, let me absolutely clear about this.
The page where this is available says it's called Arantor CAPTCHA, written by ‽ - which is the display name I am going under there. The person who asked knows full well that ‽ == Arantor on that forum. There aren't exactly many people with 60,000 posts and a little bit much ego.

It's the world's most infuriating input method. The "sharp end" looks like this:
Basically, you give your victim a long hex string to enter, and they have to do it by clicking on the digits in the grid. The digits change place every time you click on something, or every 10 seconds, whichever comes first. To make it more fun, one of the digits is replaced by a bullet. Of course, the entry box doesn't show what you've entered and is too short to show how many digits you've entered beyond (IIRC) 12 digits, so it's really really easy to get lost, you only get one shot at entering the code, and (IIRC) even if you get it right, you didn't get it right. Or maybe you did but it only enables the "no" button, I forget.
It was designed for frustrating 419 fraudsters.
The iframe was originally pointed at a thing for harvesting ip addresses, but it's dead now.

This is actually a reverse captcha, if it is solved, it's a bot with OCR. If it's a human, it auto passes after the failed attempt.

It could be used like that if you wanted to use it for anything you care about, and you wanted the user to get authorised. But it was intended to waste time and maximally frustrate. See also filesender.rb

I'm calling it more fun one shot at entering the code and they have found a bullet. Of course the code and I want something or every time and you give your victim a bullet.
