Can we make 'reply as new topic' always visible?
-
Seriously, middle mouse clicking the fucking link every time because it fades in is just annoying. Always seeing it would give me an area to avoid while scrolling.
This is like the reverse of this:
even just 10-20% opacity instead of completely invisible would be fine.
Alternately: We could always delete the feature entirely since they deemed it irrelevant for mobile.

.discourse-no-touch .post-cloak .gutter .reply-new { opacity: 0.5; }
applied to current stylesheet - that good enough?
-
It's affecting hover as well. Not good enough.

This does look a lot nicer overall (for me), but it is washed out on hover to @ben_lubar's point.
I think I would even prefer slightly darker (60-70%) as it messes with my eyes being that faded.
Take that with a grain of salt though, i'm just picky.

Updated to
.discourse-no-touch .post-cloak .gutter .reply-new { opacity: 0.5; } .post-cloak:hover .gutter .reply-new, .post-cloak:hover .gutter .track-link { opacity: 1; }
Append
?preview-style=default
to see the original effect without the custom stylesheet I'm changed (e.g. http://what.thedailywtf.com/t/can-we-make-reply-as-new-topic-always-visible/1838/3?u=pjh?preview-style=default. )

Can you make that button not be a 100% width div or something, it pisses me the hell off when I click in the gutter to get focus off something, or when trying to refocus the page over another window and it turns out I've somehow hit the goddamn Reply as new Topic button in a spot where it's not even visible.
It's the:
.gutter .reply-new, .gutter .track-link { display:block; }
style that needs to be removedThanks Dicsourse, but I don't need help trying to hit the button, if I wanted to hit it, I'd click on the text. I guess I'll just add
.gutter .reply-new, .gutter .track-link { display:inline !important; }
to my stylish unless other people are as buggered by it as I am and @PJH nukes it.edit - I think it should be ok, because the outlinks in the gutter are in <ul><li> lists which will force the reply as new topic to its own line.
-
.gutter .reply-new, .gutter .track-link { display:inline !important; }
Added.
!important
not needed for the custom CSS on here however.

not needed for the custom CSS on here however.True, I may not even have needed it on my stylish, but it made $DEITY damn sure it would work ;) IMO that's a css fix they should include in their default Dicsourse package, but that may just be me I guess.
Also, you technically don't even need the display:inline; because the element is an inline element anyway. It just needed to not have display:block;

I think the fact that the reply as new topic button was spanning the whole page was the actual problem I was having with my middle mouse click opening a new topic. I realized that when PJH changed the value with the opacity, I was still middle mouse opening a window, but when he implemented the second change it stopped.
Turns out I can validate that theory on meta.discourse.org, and it's annoying as fuck.
So here, have an internets.
