Well, you obviously wouldn't want people accessing the internet while surfing the web!</font>

  • Here at town hall some sites like ebay are blocked, instead you get a pdf that a decision was made to block those sites.

The pdf consisted of an image that was a scan of a printed page.

    Happy not to work there.

  • cooldudman - what was the url?  Why'd you black it out - was it teenfarmyardxxx.com?  Found that in the browser history of a laptop once that we were testing for a colleague.  Every time I saw him afterwards all I could think about was his penchant for animals and young girls...

you're obviously not at work!  This was about 4 years ago and the url may have gone or more likely I remembered it wrong.  Not one of my regular sites ;-)

Was the scan of the printed page then placed on a wooden table so a picture could be taken of it?

  • But its not as good as the messages I get from the firewall at my office, which says:

    This page is NOT blocked

Don't even remind me of my days in tech-support at a local ISP; the things people would leave on thier pc's when they brought them in for us to fix....  <shudder>

  • At school we were using websense set up to block any website it didn't know about.  This was to stop people setting up proxies on their computers at home and accessing them from within school.  This may well be something similar.

  • I'm ever so slightly concerned that you tried :p

Ah...web filters...the source of a lot of WTF's and oddities. Like at my 6th form. They used websense. Made a nice ad-blocker some of time :D More annoying was when it would block captchas :@ Shame I didn't know so much then as I do now.

I found a nice hole that gave me write access to the Program Files directory though. Didn't delete anything though, unlike at my school, when I managed to delete Word. Admin found out though :( told me I'd be kicked out if I did it again. Same place a bunch of us started editing the icons in Word - making it so the Save icon opens and the Bold icon justifies, stuff like that.

    But that's all OT.
