Delete and flag experiment
-
(post withdrawn by author, will be automatically deleted in 24 hours unless flagged)
Okay, I'm going to make an experiment. I'll write a post and delete it but flag it.
I want to know if it disappears after 24 hours, or what.
-
This post is deleted!
-
Guess it's "or what":
For the record I flagged it as "Notify Zecc".
-
This post is deleted!
-
Either other people can't flag my post or my sockpuppet just hasn't leveled up enough.
Edit: for reference, the post above this one (ie post 1647/4) as been flagged and liked by Maciejsjmj. Let's see if it's still there in 24 hours.
-
Flagging another post of mine errors out too. I guess I can't notify myself.
-
I take it you want me to leave the flags around for 24 hrs?
-
Yes please.
-
Wait, what flags?
Do you see notifications due to other people flagging for my attention? That's strange. Or were there people flagging the posts as inappropriate or spam?
Either way, I'm interested in knowing what happens after 24 hours and — if it survives the day — what happens if you dismiss the flags without deleting the post (if that's possible).

The latter.
"Flagging for your attention" isn't a 'flag' in the sense meant in the message and doesn't count towards delaying deletion - it simply sets up a primitive PM compose window that isn't as feature rich as the usual compose window (like pasting screenshots.)
-
Also:
-
Ok. Thanks for the information.
In this case I'm wondering what'll happen if tomorrow (or later) you dismiss the flags with "Disagree" 1. Supposedly it should leave the posts be because you're canceling the flags; but delete them because they're no longer flagged and 24 hours have passed by.
1 I appreciate the fact you're allowed to disagree with yourself.
-
Presuming you want them leaving a bit longer to remove any possibility of ambiguity, I'll clear them tomorrow.
-
Yes, I don't think we should trust DC's definition of 24 hours.
-
-
Clearing both flags @0945 UTC...
-
Discourse might delete this post after 24 hours. Delete it too.
I want a one-click feature that makes an unfunny post and immediately deletes it for me so I can save time.
-
How about one that just prevents you from posting in the first place, saving you even more time?
Oh wait, that's just the log-out button.
-
How about one that just prevents you from posting in the first place, saving you even more time?
I have two of those - one more permanent than the other..
-
Now if only @ben_lubar had a button he could press himself to activate that, he'd save so much time it isn't even funny.
-
Well that screenshot was taken from his account's page, so I could do it for him - save all the hassle...
-
No, no, it's no fun if it's done for him. Has to be a user level option.
I mean, he might cry foul or censorship otherwise.
-
Oh, wow. My posts did get deleted. Look like DC was smarter than I thought.
Now what was the purpose of this experiment? I guess I was just bored...
-
When Discourse works as you'd expect it to, it's not much fun. However, when it works 'as designed' then things get a bit more
interestingunusable.
-
-
Did you hide them again? I'm not seeing them.
-
Did you hide them again? I'm not seeing them
That button only unhides for the person who can see the button - it wouldn't have affected the view for anyone else.
Was basically showing you that they they aren't really deleted, just hidden for most people
-
Oh well, you can delete them if you want to.
-
They 'can't' be - not from the web interface anyway.
Which is why we have this category on here for when such stuff is necessary:
In short, it's not worth doing anything with those posts beyond what's already happened to them.
-
-
Nice choice of colour for the category.
-
Needs more icons.
-
I decided to stick with the fa-icon set...
-
Then fa-icon needs more
-
Then fa-icon needs more
Go wild:
Edit - Hmm - what happened to my link...?
http://fortawesome.github.io/Font-Awesome/community/#requesting-new-icons
-
That requires effort and I don't care enough. I'm merely asserting that fa-icon needs more fun icons.
